We watched Latham for an entire season

I don't think we can say he has a low work rate, the kid did seem to work his ass off in the preseason to get in better shape, which I wasn't expecting based on what I'd seen of him in high school
Low work rate on being a two way player (offense and defense). Advanced inside the paint offensive moves but poor rebounder and defender.

GO RU

Husky media reported the news using a tone that suggests it’s assumed Lathan will be the back up center. He’s not even likely to start.

I didn't realize Kepnang had another year, but that guy is always hurt isn't he? He's a much better defender and rebounder than Lathan, so a good mentor for a year. I'd love to have that guy here if healthy. The Villanova thing was interesting, weird they wanted him while they didn't have a coach.

He's just not a well rounded, or smart player at this point. I honestly thought he tried, just not sure he had the instincts on what to do half the time. His rebounding did improve a little as the year went on, I thought, then went back and no, it really didn't, he was pretty much right at that 4 mark every month, except January at 4.5 per and March under 4. He didn't even pick up the rebounding when EO went out and his pt increased a few minutes.

lol people like you love to say they’re leaving but unfortunately never do
People like you??? What does that mean. I didn’t say I was leaving….said I was losing interest. And that is a fact. I used to follow Rutgers recruiting avidly….knew all the HS kids we were looking at. Then followed them after they committed and enjoyed watching them develop…especially for football. Now I couldn’t tell you shit about who we are after. And guess what, I give thousands LESS each year than I did before. People like you? I’m not leaving, but I’m not anywhere near as engaged as I once was. Rutgers loses out when people like me lose interest.

Why is that ? Sprinkle is a very respected coach . They ran offense thru their center and featured the center in the low post so the system seems like a fit. Sprinkle had to get 8 transfers to play together and they were more than competitive in a number of games . Sprinkle will get it done maybe not this coming year but after that. Washington like the other west coast teams will be competitive in the BiG 10. Not sure Lathan will be going anywhere else. We still have no offense and losing our best returning scorer that was getting better the last 10 games does nothing but hurt us.
Washington now has 9 players in the portal, but supposedly has intentions of spending big in the portal

Lathan will be starting or getting starter minutes. If Sprinkle is playing 3 centers he should get 20 minutes a game. He will start over Kepang , who is a 6th year and been injured a ton and is more of a rim protector. Great Osobor is no longer there. Lathan will be a big part of that team. Do you ever watch other teams or do you rely on reading stats or articles that do not even say what you imply.
What I am trying to figure out ? Your absolute hatred of Lathan and if there is any logic for your not wanting him back at Rutgers ? coaches at other schools like Washington , Villanova and Butler do want him with them.

Keep believing that BS the agents are selling, if Nova or any decent team had any interest in Lathan he would have visited, instead he went with a terrible team with a empty roster.

I am not quoting any agent just the article. But he is going to Washington who played in a very low post favorable offense with Great Osobar and he will be competing with Frank Keptang , who is always hurt and he will likely beat out and another center. So the idea that he will not compete with other centers seems like a ridiculous notion .
Don’t know what you know about Danny Sprinkle but a real good coach and had to get 8/9 new guys to play as a team. Washington finished last yes but they had some talent. They will be better than you think going forward.

Guess you don't know he has to get 9 new players this year, since the vast majority of the team left.

They were last with a freshman phenom and paying shitloads for a center

Really questionnable take. His passing out from the post may contribute to his not being a great player, but not to his being a bad teammate. Being a "bad teammate" is more about the locker room and off the court stuff.
Bad teammate means he is not thinking of what is best for the team. For example, is 10% on three point shooting best
for the team or might there be a better option.

This time your not going to get away with saying I’m making crap up. Here’s the article which explicitly states that he’s a nice addition to their bench to spell Kepang:

By the way, I never said he has no chance to get the starting role. The guy he’s competing with only got 20 mpg on a Washington team that finished dead last. The point is the Washington media arm currently (as in real time market perception) projects him as the back up.

He was simply going to get the biggest bag he could. I don’t blame him. He’s not an NBA prospect and he’s got 3 years to cash in as much as possible.

In case your memory is not great , Great Osobor was their very good starting center this year. Kepang played as a back up. He is now in his 6th year and has been perennially hurt or gets in immediate foul trouble his entire career which started at Oregon. Osobor is gone.
Like most good teams Washington will have 2-3 Centers as today they signed some kid from Germany. As I stated before Lathan will either be starting or getting starter minutes. Kepang is more of an offensively challenged rim protector and I would not be suprised if Sprinkle played them together for some minutes.
By the way , it is not “I got you post “ but more actual facts and reality not what you post most of the time citing other sources. If Lathan got $900,000 because that is the present market value for centers with an offensive game then Pike didn’t understand the present market or he has someone better in mind. So far , we are no where near finding someone better. If Pike only wants to pay $400,000 for the center then the saying goes , “You get what you pay for “

Come on man. Enough already. I NEVER made any prediction about how much Lathan would play or whether or not he would start. All I said was that a Husky media source just reported he was brought in as a back up. When you called me on it saying I was making things up, I attached the link for it. Nothing more that that. And, actually, I agree with you. Kepang only logged 20 mpg on a bad team so I would certainly hope Lathan would at least have a chance to beat him out. But again, fact does remain that at least one local Washington media outlet projects him to be the back up. It sure doesn’t jive with a situation where Vilanova and company were fighting over landing him though.

Common man. You have been the # 1 voice for hoping Lathan leaves. You could not bring yourself to admit how important his offensive game was and how impossible in your mind it would be for him to get better defensively and on the backboards. News flash for you. He will likely have more than 8.2 points and 4 rebounds next year at Washington. Just maybe his defense , shot blocking gets better along with his mid range and 3 point range. Because that is what good players do going from freshman to sophomore year and almost everywhere but not always at Rutgers .
Your posts about Lathan were about 95% negative. Now you try and play the victim. LOL.

Once again, I didn’t make any predictions about anything Lathan will or will not do once he left Rutgers. Even before he entered the portal, I acknowledged that he might have success somewhere else but that he’s not a good fit here and would be too expensive to keep around.

In this case, I referenced an article published by a Husky beat writer who says he was brought to Washington to be a bench player. That’s someone else’s opinion. Not mine. My view is that he left for the biggest pot he could get regardless projected PT.

Kepnang is a much better player than he's admitting to. Lathan and him played similar minutes last year. Kepnang rebounded a little more but had a lot more blocked shots whereas Lathan scored a little more. Both shot over 50% from the field and over 80% on FTs.

People like you aka uber sensitive phonies. You’re not actually losing interest but rather throwing a temper tantrum cause a 19 year old doesn’t want to play for your school. You’ll be back and watching next year and we both know it lol

Are you Lathan's nut sack or something? I've only seen you post in support of him or against other current players, no other topics. I wanted him back, but damn you just know the kid has some limitations at this level.
if he was as limited as you say then there wouldn’t have been a board meltdown. Calm down sweetie.

You have serious reading comprehension issues.

Board meltdown? There hasn't been a meltdown, it's pretty much 50/50 on whether people wanted him back, regardless of the cost. Add in 7 figures and very few think he should still be here.

This. I’d love to have him, he can play. But we have to operate within a salary cap.

This isn’t the Giants letting Saquon go…

How do you explain to your husband how much time you spend on this site memorizing Richie's content?
Apparently some of us listen better than others. Sorry you can't keep up. Is it dementia that makes you forget things?

The podcasts are great for fans who spend time alone in a car or commuting in general.
He’s got issues because my takes generally trump his and tries to start personal shit all the time. Don’t waste your time engaging him.
