I didn't realize Kepnang had another year, but that guy is always hurt isn't he? He's a much better defender and rebounder than Lathan, so a good mentor for a year. I'd love to have that guy here if healthy. He's just not a well rounded, or smart player at this point. I honestly thought he tried, just not sure he had the instincts on what to do half the time. His rebounding did improve a little as the year went on, I thought, then went back and no, it really didn't, he was pretty much right at that 4 mark every month, except January at 4.5 per and March under 4. He didn't even pick up the rebounding when EO went out and his pt increased a few minutes.

Lathan will be starting or getting starter minutes. If Sprinkle is playing 3 centers he should get 20 minutes a game. He will start over Kepang , who is a 6th year and been injured a ton and is more of a rim protector. Great Osobor is no longer there. Lathan will be a big part of that team. What I am trying to figure out ? Your absolute hatred of Lathan and if there is any logic for your not wanting him back at Rutgers ? coaches at other schools like Washington , Villanova and Butler do want him with them.
Keep believing that BS the agents are selling, if Nova or any decent team had any interest in Lathan he would have visited, instead he went with a terrible team with a empty roster.

But he is going to Washington who played in a very low post favorable offense with Great Osobar and he will be competing with Frank Keptang , who is always hurt and he will likely beat out and another center. So the idea that he will not compete with other centers seems like a ridiculous notion .
Don’t know what you know about Danny Sprinkle but a real good coach and had to get 8/9 new guys to play as a team. Washington finished last yes but they had some talent. They will be better than you think going forward.

He is now in his 6th year and has been perennially hurt or gets in immediate foul trouble his entire career which started at Oregon. Like most good teams Washington will have 2-3 Centers as today they signed some kid from Germany. As I stated before Lathan will either be starting or getting starter minutes. Kepang is more of an offensively challenged rim protector and I would not be suprised if Sprinkle played them together for some minutes.

If Lathan got $900,000 because that is the present market value for centers with an offensive game then Pike didn’t understand the present market or he has someone better in mind. And, actually, I agree with you. Kepang only logged 20 mpg on a bad team so I would certainly hope Lathan would at least have a chance to beat him out. But again, fact does remain that at least one local Washington media outlet projects him to be the back up. You could not bring yourself to admit how important his offensive game was and how impossible in your mind it would be for him to get better defensively and on the backboards. News flash for you. He will likely have more than 8.2 points and 4 rebounds next year at Washington. Just maybe his defense , shot blocking gets better along with his mid range and 3 point range. Once again, I didn’t make any predictions about anything Lathan will or will not do once he left Rutgers. Even before he entered the portal, I acknowledged that he might have success somewhere else but that he’s not a good fit here and would be too expensive to keep around.
In this case, I referenced an article published by a Husky beat writer who says he was brought to Washington to be a bench player. That’s someone else’s opinion. Not mine. My view is that he left for the biggest pot he could get regardless projected PT.

Kepnang is a much better player than he's admitting to. Lathan and him played similar minutes last year. Kepnang rebounded a little more but had a lot more blocked shots whereas Lathan scored a little more. Both shot over 50% from the field and over 80% on FTs.
