Too early to be sure the front comes through and all showers are over by Saturday morning, as currently predicted. Error bars on a 6-day forecast are simply too high to rule out the front being slowed down vs. what's modeled, which could lead to showers lingering into the late afternoon or evening, although in all cases, the amount of rain being modeled is pretty low (but our fanbase has shown it won't show up with even light rain).

Having said that, though, it's looking at least pretty good right now for a dry game with seasonable temps, i.e., highs in the mid-60s (65/42F is the normal split on 4/23) and game-time temps dropping into the upper 50s by 9-10 pm - light jacket weather if no rain. Let's see if non-snow weather threads can remain civil.

most forecasts have the front moving through quicker...Mt Holly has Mostly Sunny and 67 for Belle Mead on Saturday. Definitely will be nice for afternoon tailgates but will get a bit nipply during the so called game

Any chance of snow? :flush:
Uh, oh, looks like we need to start warming up ye olde ...

By the way, do you think my hair is too long in that picture?

Sunset is 7:46 pm and kickoff is 7 pm, with the game lasting 90 minutes, usually, so the game should be over by 8:30 pm. It will likely only cool off by about 6-7F or so from the day's high through 8:30 pm. So, yeah it'll be cooler, but nowhere near the 42F low temperature expected early Sunday morning. Assuming the rain is over by early Saturday, tailgates should be great.

I would edit the title of this thread, front looks to pass sometime Friday and even if the slower Euro verified, Saturday is still looking like a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the mid to upper 60s dropping into the 50s by games end which probably isnt shorts weather even though it may be warm enough for shorts before the game

Planned to change it last night, but life got in the way, lol. Looking pretty good with any showers likely over before 4 am on Saturday. The afternoon should be very nice with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid/upper 60s; could be a little breezy in the afternoon, but less breezy by kickoff (although winds are hard to predict this far out). Wear your sunscreen, as the sun, now is as strong as it is in late August. Kickoff temps will be in the low 60s and only drop into the upper 50s by 9 pm. Sounds like shorts weather to me. :>)

No real change. Any showers should be over by early Saturday morning and the afternoon/evening should be mostly sunny, dry, and seasonable, with highs in the mid/upper 60s, kickoff temps in the low 60s and end of game temps in the upper 50s. There will likely be a bit of a breeze (~10 mph during the afternoon and evening), so some might want to bring a light jacket for the game. Definitely wear sunscreen if you'll be outside before about 4 pm.

We could use the rain on Friday

Yep - red flag fire warnings (counties in red, below) are up region-wide, as it's been pretty dry lately...

Funny you guys should say that: on the way into work this morning, there was a brush fire off the right shoulder on the southbound side of 287 down south of exit 30. They had 8 emergency vehicles there.

We still looking ok?
Yes. Some light showers may linger past sunrise, but should be over by 8-9 am, with rapid clearing after that. Still on track for mostly sunny and seasonable for the afternoon/evening, with highs in the mid/upper 60s and kickoff temps in the low 60s and temps into the mid/upper 50s by 9 pm or so. Definitely looking a bit breezy with ~15 mph winds in the mid/late afternoon, probably diminishing to ~10 mph for the game.

Keeping an eye on this - I see they keep pushing the showers later and later.

Not really - it's actually that the slower Euro model is verifying better for this system. It's always been precip over in the early to mid morning on the Euro and now the other models are coming around to that idea, rather than having the precip end by late Friday night. The end result is the "official" forecast certainly has the rain ending several hours later than it did 1-2 days ago, but the end time hasn't really moved later on the Euro. Is there a tiny possibility showers end in the early afternoon? Sure, have to concede that, but it's extremely unlikely now that we're only 2 days away. I'd say it's about a zero chance showers last past early afternoon and <5% chance showers last until noon.

Showers should be over by about noon along I-95 - earlier than that to the NW and later than that towards the Shore (much needed rain). Should be dry conditions after that, with clouds giving way to sunshine by mid-afternoon and temps getting up to around 70F. Temps will be in the low 60s for kickoff and should only drop to the upper 50s by 9 pm.

Will be a bit breezy in the afternoon with ~15 mph winds and gusts to 20-25 mph; winds should die down to ~10 mph by kickoff. Should be a great afternoon for tailgating and a nice evening for the game. Enjoy.

Crappy start to the day. Still drizzling here in NW Essex county. Hope the sun pops out this afternoon so the tailgate isn't a bust .

Don't worry, it will. Showers still on track to be over by around noon or so (maybe 1 pm at the latest) for the I-95 corridor, including Rutgers Stadium. Sun will be out later in the afternoon.

I live less than a mile from the Turnpike and the last shower I saw was around 11 am and the sun came out around 1 pm. By radar, it looked like the last showers along the Turnpike were around 12:30 pm in a few spots (and were over in P'way by noon, similar to Metuchen). Forecast turned out to be pretty accurate from 6 days out, then was off by a few hours with the frontal progression later in the week (which is still pretty good), but was just about perfect the last 2 days. Would be nice if they were all this accurate.
