Weather for UW @ RU: Should be warm, cloudy and mostly dry, but a few sprinkles/light showers are possible

What time would the showers be ?
As per the forecast from the NWS (and AccuWeather/WUnderground, Lee Goldberg, etc.), we might have a few sprinkles during the tailgates (not measurable amounts, ie., <0.01") and maybe a light shower or two during the game, totaling 0.01" to maybe 0.02", i..e., very little. This is nuisance level rain at worst, unless the forecast gets worse (unlikely, but possible).

I don't think I downplayed it and the thread title was changed to reflect the chance of sprinkles and a light shower or two. The current forecast and all of the models are still showing very little actual rainfall for P'way and even down to 195. I know you get your knickers in a twist about 0.01" of rain, but most don't. And low 70s with some humidity and light winds for most of the tailgates is seasonable/warm to me and mid/upper 60s for the game is well above normal (the low is expected to be in the low 60s vs. a normal low in the low 50s).
well the thread title clearly was wrong anyhow...but for me and most others its always better to be prepared, whether that is bringing a garbage bag to sit on or a light poncho or light rain proof jacket to throw on if a shower or moves in or even just wearing a hat to be on the safe side. Most of the time you wont need it but like grabbing a mask and throwing it your car before you head out into the world, you never know when one might need it.

Will the "Blackout Poiice" allow my red R Alumni poncho if it rains? jk

Maybe merge this thread with the field storm poll! How will the forecast impact the potential field storming ???

Appreciate what you do here Numbers but at this point with each passing forecast I don’t think any of us would be surprised if we were in downpours by early evening tomorrow. Many other outlets are sounding much worse than a chance of a slight passing shower

So I think most on this board won’t be scared away by sprinkles / light showers. Real question is whether we’re starting to run the risk that the casual fan stays home. I feel like you lose 10% of the crowd as soon as any rain shows up in the forecast.
I woke up to 7 more people looking for tickets today with this forecast. No lie. This is an Akron. This isn’t November. This is a little bit of nuisance sprinkle rain maybe once or twice during the afternoon and during the game.

Show even one outlet calling for more than 0.1 of rain from noon to midnight Friday. No model does that and no media/internet outlet does that that I've seen and almost all are showing <0.02" of total rainfall from noon to midnight. Not saying it's impossible, but the overwhelming evidence is to the contrary.

Today's 12Z models continue with this type of forecast, i.e., trivial amounts of rain (<0.01") or no rain at all for the tailgates and maybe 0.01"-0.05" for the game, depending on the model, which I wouldn't worry about personally, but I can understand if some would want to bring a poncho to not get wet at all (I don't mind getting a little bit wet when it's warm/mild). More significant rain of 0.1-0.2" of rain is looking likely after midnight on some models, while others still show <0.05", but clearly there is some chance of this forecast getting a bit wetter for the game, but we're not there yet.

And as usual, the NWS follows the model consensus, and they've taken out any mention of rain, at all, from the forecast for the tailgates, i.e., up through about 8 pm, although they're still carrying a 10-20% chance of a sprinkle or two with no measurable rain (i.e., <0.01") during that time in their hourly graphic, below. AccuWeather, WU and several other sources concur with this. They then have about a 30-40% chance of some sprinkles or maybe a light shower or two during the game with maybe 0.02" of rain falling from 8-11 pm. Assuming this verifies, which is very close to what I've been saying for awhile now, this is nuisance rain. Sure, there's still time for this forecast to get a little wetter (especially for the game), given a bit more rain 50+ miles SW of P'way, but that's not the way to bet as we're now within 24 hours of the event, when the forecast should be pretty solid.

NWS forecast hasn't changed much. After some fog this morning (especially towards the coast) and a few showers before about 11 am, expect a generally cloudy and warm day with highs in the low 70s with moderate humidity (dewpoints in the low/mid 60s), light winds and the chance of a sprinkle or two for the tailgates (should be <0.01" from 11 am to 8 pm) and some sprinkles and maybe a light shower or two for the game (~0.02" forecast for the game), although most of the time it will be dry, as per the hourly graphic below. WUnderground has a very similar forecast, while Lee Goldberg/AccuWeather has a similar forecast with generally dry tailgates (with a passing very brief shower or a few sprinkles possible) and a few showers possible for the game (maybe 0.02-0.04" of rain). All of the weather sources I've seen have more significant rain after midnight (0.1-0.2").

It is worth noting that every model last night at 0Z and this morning at 6Z has it being almost completely dry from about 11 am to 8 pm with maybe a few sprinkles amounting to no measurable rain (<0.01") and from there some models have it staying mostly dry with <0.02" of rain, while there are a couple of models that show more showers with 0.05-0.10" of rain during the game, which is a bit more than the forecasts are showing. So if people really don't like getting a bit wet (not moderate to heavy rain drenched, but wet), I'd recommend a poncho or rain gear for the game. With warm/mild game temps I'm not worried about a little rain.

Good to see Joe's been reading my posts, lol. Seriously, I like his stuff. Had to chuckle at his, you can wear a poncho at the game...if you want...but saying a sweatshirt is probably enough for some...
i would recommend everyone bring a poncho or rain resistant windbreaker jacket with hood

Getting some decent mist right now in South Jersey (Mt. Laurel) although there’s not much showing on the radar.

Let’s hope it stays south.

Every forecast now is showing rain during the game. Hopefully it holds off until at least the second half. Assuming the “blackout” is going to look kind of dumb once everyone brings out raincoats and ponchos

Everybody should own a black raincoat or poncho, a black cap, black waterproof shoes with black shoelaces, black socks, black underwear, black bras (well, ok, not everyone), black hair dye, black t-shirts, black sweatshirts, black sunglasses, black sunblock, black tinted stadium-approved bags. And everyone should dye their coke black for this game.

That's commitment.

Wearing black in the rain is easier than wearing red if you have a decent shell. At least yellow isn’t one of Washington’s colors like WVU. RU should buy a container or two of black and red ones and have them available at every rainy games for free or with any purchase of food, beverage or raffle ticket.

Let’s go!!!!!

I ain't a turtle, and I ain't got no shell. Or clear ponchos. Some of this stuff is easy, and it is amazing every day fans think of this stuff.
