What hath Rick Wrought

I honestly dont care even if he knew his recruits were getting lap dances and blowjobs. He won, won big and won often
And Louisville said the escorts and prostitutes were cheap and most of the players they got them for didn't sign, so it wasn't even really an advantage. 😲 😲 😲

You have my sympathies. It's gotta be awful tough to be a fan of a school that really does care about such things and is not interested in winning at any cost.
Have you ever considered rooting for another school ? There are plenty out there that share your fast-and-loose approach to the rules.
nah moreso just wish Rutgers would begin to act like others and stop pretending we're a high and mighty bunch.

Wow, nice revisionist history. Louisville was paying for hookers and strippers to provide to recruits over a 4 year period. Pitino also slept with his equipment manager's wife and paid 3 grand for her abortion.

Interesting how the same guys who denigrate Pike/RU/BIG continually on this board pump up the Big East and guys like Pitino. I guess scumbags prefer scumbags.
Because this board is filled with TON of Big East MBB fans that also cheer for Rutgers football.

They have no other place to go…

Frankly.. The Big East love-festival needs to take a hike… This is a RUTGERS board, which to remind everyone is a member of the B1G CONFERENCE.

The constant cheerleading for SHU, Providence, GT, Saint John’s and other Big East programs on a daily basis is pathetic… I totally understand some minor discussion here and there, but the daily Big East propaganda is getting really tiring.

Maybe… A separate MBB board for the Big East should be created and the Rutgers MBB board eliminated and rolled into the pay forum.

** EDIT - I want to make it clear that my post is NOT directed at Mr. Kent and pointing out a general observation of the overall board by myself and others.

You gotta admit that a lot of bad behavior is forgiven when a program wins big. You'll see fans that bash another program for doing bad things make excuses for their team when they break the rules.

I agree.....enough Pitino nonsense....if we play them, so what.....they're not the standard anyway. RU fans need to stop living in the past.

Sorry , but we know what Ky jelly is used for --who cares about the BigEast or the Ivy's.

SJU at MSG next season died two weeks ago. SJU pulled out.
Good. I would rather see a Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Texas or how about Auburn at MSG.

We would draw way more media interest and national eyeballs and actually benefit by really moving the needle IF we beat them.

Not realistic as long as Pike refuses to play Nov and Dec tournaments.
Aren’t those two decisions separate from each other? Are you saying we cannot get a one off at MSG against any of those teams (at any point during the season), while still not playing in one of the those tournaments?

To make note… I have been and in support playing in one of thos tournaments.

Of course the Big East is elite. Just because Rutgers is in the Big Ten, that doesn't make Big Ten basketball the best and just because Rutgers is no longer in the Big East, that doesn't make the Big East suddenly pedestrian. We are ignoring 2 key elements. The Big East teams have won 7 National Championships in the last 24 years and quite obviously the Big East has the best cadre of coaches. That league has 8 coaches who have been to the second weekend,7 to the Elite 8,5 to the last weekend,3 to the title game and 2 who have won it all. No other league is remotely close. The league produced 2 of the top 5 teams last season and UConn,Creighton and Marquette will in the aggregate be stronger next season and all 3 are in everyone's top 9 in mid-April. I guess Michigan State could make an Elite 8 run next season, but most likely no one else. Rutgers is in 100% the best conference for Rutgers, but not remotely the best conference in college basketball no matter how many bids it might produce. The abysmal record the last 3 seasons speaks volumes. And yes, this isn't a very relevant conversation.
Rutgers is in a conference that will get near double digit bids in perpetuity but somehow doesn't really recruit at an elite level overall. MSU, maybe Mich, maybe Indiana. That's really it. It is a perfect situation for us especially if we can pull off Harper/Bailey.

Maryland will recruit at elite level soon 20th class in nation in 2023
UCLA and USC joining soon

I think you further proved my point.

These teams will be fine next year.

I was just pointing out that the Big East is an elite conference in the world of college basketball. The conference is only getting better.

A lot of Big East schools have major donors with lots of cash. After all, most Big East teams focus solely on college hoops and will shell out cash to get top talent so it wouldn't surprise me if teams can turn things around quickly from picking up players in the portal.
The question is what ESPN will do to destroy this version of the Big East like they destroyed the last one.
