I have been in 124 since 1995. I started with 2 seats, had no mandatory seat donation (yes, I gave anyway) and parked in the yellow lot. My annual nut was around $500 a season. I now have 5 seats, but keeping the math the same, those same 2 seats now run me around $1200 and I park in the purple lot.
The message has always been 'that's the price of being big time', which I always agreed with- even adding 3 seats. Unfortunately, our team is not big time. We are a tough watch. I hung in there all those years when we were terrible because I had hope for better days and it wasn't really that expensive. My steadfastness was rewarded with the excitement of the Schiano years. I suspect my story is not unique.
Which brings us to now. I feel like I am back to the Shea days. I am not hopeful and it is no longer inexpensive. I have been down on Flood for a long time, but figured I could wait him out and be able to get my money back for tickets that weren't used because of the big name teams that would now be on the schedule. Surely, gone were the days of eating tickets. But, I just had to sell 2 of my Nebraska tickets for $50 total. I am willing to pay up for hope, but I'm not going to pay over $3000 for what is being purported as big time football.
You may be right and most people will continue to go because they have years invested and don't want to lose their equity. I will take the other side of that bet. If they keep Flood, I think you will see a major drop in renewals. We'll see.
