After the match, Goodale commented on the impact of the crowd. Ballpark for someone who was there? Anyone? Mr. and Mrs.? Bueller? Anyone?

2,652 per scarlet knights.com I would have expected a larger crowd than that with all the noise being made, but still better than WBB and soon MBB

I wonder if the holidays didn't keep numbers lower than otherwise expected. Last year we wrestled (IIRC) PSU or Iowa here, and we had 6k. From what I understand, the RAC is a great place to watch a match, and with us getting very good and being in a hotbed of wrestling (high) schools and talent, the numbers should grow. Maybe wrestling will be in the black in due course, since overhead is relatively low to put on a match and to travel.

Maybe wrestling and football will be the big money makers for RU. That's about triple the size of the crowd at the last MBB game.

I was there, and the last game's attendance and lack of energy was brutal. I still got out of my seat when Daniels threw down and we made nice plays, but it's rough watching Eddie not really know what to do with the personnel we have.

The Iowa match may have kept some fans away and maybe a big day for High School wrestling in the state? Regardless, NEXT HOME MATCH:

Friday Jan 8th vs Michigan State @ 7:00PM. LET'S PACK THE RAC!! The STUDENTS need to get behind this team and get the place rockin'!!!

Any idea what MSU is ranked?

Problem is nobody knew about the match. RU does a piss poor job of promoting wrestling. That crowd there today was strictly word of mouth. The four who came with my season ticket group wouldn't have even known about the match or the fact that RU was ranked 11th in the country if not for me telling them. The advertising budget is probably next to zero for wrestling. I will tell you this though that 2,652 was quite boisterous.

Pretty easy to know when and where Rutgers Wrestling matches are if you care even 3% about the team. Not buying your "piss poor" reasoning.

Fixed it for you.

NJ is one of the last states to start. Blair Academy was at the Walsh IronMan tourny today in OHIO. Beast of the East coming up. RU has a top 5 recruiting class coming in.

I'm surprised the number in attendance was so low. It seemed like at least 5,000 with how loud it was. One of the greatest matches I ever saw. Every single wrestler did their part and wrestled their heart out.

It was loud but when you looked around and saw that many of the 200 sections were nearly empty you knew the figure could not be that large.

Was there w son and obviously had a lot of fun. I suspect the unbelievably beautiful weather kept attendance down. After 2 hours of indoor youth hoops in am, I almost bailed. Then driving up we considered making a left and going to the outdoor army Navy game. Glad we went. Great match

Wrestling proving what you can do at RU by keeping NJ kids home. NJ has national class talent in just about every sport, so no reason we can't compete in the BIG in all sports. NJ also has a passionate fan base, proven by the state championships and the crowds they bring in at AC. I know a few guys who have season tickets to wrestling who have no connection to RU whatsoever, they are just fans of wrestling.

What? They crosspromoted at the Rutgers football games & I think basketball & other events too. They've also sent out a bunch of emails, tweets & Facebook posts. What else would you like them to do? I'm sorry but the lack of marketing excuse is weak. It's 2015. Everyone has Internet, computer, tablet & smartphone. Why do NJ fans need to be begged to come? Are they that lazy & incompetent? Everyone interested can go to sk.com to check the schedule. Nonetheless, attendance was also likely impacted by HS scrimmages according to some.
