What were RU' records for FB and MBB during your 4 years on the banks?

I was at Rutgers for undergrad/ grad from 1998-2004 (last 3 years for Shea, first 3 years for Schiano, Kevin Bannon and Gary Watters for bball)

In football, 5-6 and 5-7 seasons bookended my time as a student. Almost everything in between made those two squads look like the '92 Cowboys. I used to joke that when I bought my first season tickets in 2004 right after finishing grad school, I should have gotten a gift basket and a thank you letter. In basketball, I remember a bunch of NIT bids, including the run to the finals in 2004 and being on the wrong end of the NCAA bubble in '98-99.

Football: 8-36 (was studying abroad one fall semester, though, so the record while I was in the country was 3-30)
Basketball: 59-60
She must have been quite a large sized broad if it took you a whole semester to study her.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Sept '90 thru May '92. Last NCAA appearance. Doug Graber's first two years, 3-8 and 6-5 with a big upset win @MSU

97-01

Football 9-36.
Basketball The bannon glory years . Big east semis , NCAA bubble and an NIT bid .
Women's hoops we went to elite eight one yea the final four in 2000. That was pretty cool .

1986-1990

Football: 19-22-3

In 1988 we started 3-1 with road wins against ranked Michigan State and Penn St ( finished 5-6 )

Basketball: 51-72

1988 was the year we beat Penn St in the A-10 Championship at the RAC
Thanks gringo, I was too lazy and depressed to look it up myself.

Only here do we recognize NCAA bubble as a positve accomplishment...sheesh

Class of 2007
Football 03/04-2007: 30-19 (best win - Louisville. Worst loss is either NH or 3OT loss to WVU)
Basketball 03/04-2007: 59-65 (Got to see Rutgers go to the NIT finals at MSG)

Same years for me.
Littlepage Basketball: 15-42
Wenzel Basketball: 36-30

It was a beautiful thing to beat Penn State football and Penn State basketball!

1992-1996

Football 20-23-1 Highlight- beat WVU and tied Boston College; Fortay comeback vs VT; robbed of a bowl in freshman year.
Basketball 46-64 Bob Wenzel- another Rutgers alumni that did not do all that well on the banks :(

1975-1979 is the winner!!! (The fall of '75 through the spring of '79)

Wikipedia shows BB at 96-28 .774 (32-2,18-10, 24-7, 22-9)

&

Football at 37-8 .822 (9-2,11-0, 8-3, 9-3)

The great old days!

1963-1967

Football was 17-19
Basketball was 56-43 but included our first ever post-season tournament in 1967 with Bob Lloyd and Jim Valvano.

Or going to the NIT Final. I can hear Archie and Edith singing, "those were the days !"
You should be very, very happy we went to the semi-final and final games of that NIT. Why? Because Michigan also made it to the final, and there were a bunch of Big Ten officials there. And they were blown away by the support Rutgers got for just being in the NIT. One of the factors that led to our offer to join the Big Ten.

Saw a couple other class of 2000 alumni posted:

FB 8-36
BB 59-60

Never thought football would turn around and thought bball was on the cusp

I was a transfer coming home, so only three years:

Football 16-16-1. The essence of mediocrity, but I was there when we beat Michigan State and Penn State (and there when we lost to Vanderbilt in between).
Basketball: I came in mid-season, but I didn't miss a home game before enrolling, so I'll get three years of Littlepage and one of Wenzel for 41-76. First home game I missed, we beat Penn State to snap an absurd losing streak, maybe 16 games? At least I was there when we beat Penn State in the 1989 A-10 final, and I made the trip to Providence for the Iowa game (although we ditched out tickets to the night session and didn't see Princeton nearly knock off Georgetown).

A great 4 years (73-77)

Looks like Frank Burn's football team was 33-10-1 while I was there (including an undefeated season).... Tom Young's basketball team was 89-28 (including an undefeated regular season and an NCAA final four appearance!)

2005-2009

FB: 34-17, bowl game every year
MBB: 51-58

At least WBB made a Final Four my sophomore year and won a couple of conference championships along the way.
