Where are all the 4 stars?

Yet, we didn’t rank last in the B1G in recruiting. You can downplay NIL all you want. But facts are facts. Top 2 NJ kids are going to TAM and Texas this year. They got zero kids in NJ in the last 2 recruiting classes. But you think it’s the relationship or all the winning they are doing.
Again the Rankings are not over. Because of our “full” class for 2023 Commitments that count against Rankings there are 3 B1G teams below us. They only have 13 Recruits each so far. When their classes are full in February we will be last.
NIL is not determining why we finish on the bottom of the Recruiting rankings.

One issue is the NCAA didn’t engage early enough in the NIL discussions. In fact, they ignored it. They could have been instrumental in putting some structure around it such as limits per person and limits per team. Plus addressing all the other questions about NIL such as transfers, portal, injuries etc. Could have brought more sanity to the issue.

You noticed he said "last 2 years" right? That's bc he knows Texas A&M has a recruiter from New Jersey - who was already bringing top Jersey guys to Texas. Fran Brown put a stop to it, but now that he's gone - its feasting season again. NIL is just his excuse for Greg not being able to get it done
Or, that’s when GS returned. But let’s go back to Ash years. In 2020 TAM got 2 (#4 and #9 ranked player), 0 in 2019 and 0 in 2018. That’s 2 players in 2 players in 5 years. Texas got 0 in those 5 years. If Fran is so good why did Bisontis pick TAM over Georgia?

I'm not at A&M to know who they prioritized in recruiting. We know before Fran came to Rutgers- they were able to grab to 2 top 10 players from here. Isn't Flood at Texas now? Maybe that has something to do with Texas coming to New Jersey. Texas doesn't need NIL to out recruit Schiano. And as far Fran Brown missing out on a player, that doesn't mean a thing. All great recruiters miss out on a player

TAM and Texas don’t recruit NJ, they recruit specific players nationally who they think can be additive to their programs. TAM has Elijah Robinson and of course Texas has Kyle Flood, so they know their way around the state when they have a reason to be here.

That’s the point. some say NIL is not that important and relationship matters more. Hard to build a relationship when you take 1 kid out of NJ in 5 years. Relationship my arse. Show me the money.

The year before that was zero. Must be Fran. I know Fran is a great recruiter but it’s an uphill battle against blue bloods. I mean in 2021, top 10 went to Ole Miss, Neb, GT, BC and Cincy.

They build a relationship with the kids they are interested in pursuing, it’s not like they are hanging out watching Group 1 football games.

When you say "build a relationship with the kids", how much cash is allowed to be involved in this "building" ?

Likely Bisontis and Mitchell both received NIl money or some promise of NIL, beyond those two I cannot find any evidence or rumor of other NIL money going to the other 4 stars from NJ
Interesting that Texas A&M was rumored to be spending big dollars on Recruits but right now A&M program is a dumpster fire with one of the largest numbers of players entering the portal so go figure it doesn’t seem to be working out for Jimbo other than the HS recruiting class

Thought so

They didn't because they don't want to risk losing another law suit. The limits you have in mind (for instance, limits per person) are considered by the anti-trust laws to be restraints on competition. Such restraints are allowable only if "reasonable." The NCAA's restraints on the educational benefits schools could offer were struck down as unreasonable; the Supreme Court affirmed the invalidation. The NCAA didn't want to take the same chance with NIL, particularly with Justice Kavanaugh saying that restraints on NIL were probably illegal, and particularly as an increasing number of states passed laws allowing NIL.

Another way of looking at Rival 3-star recruits in comparison to a Rival 4-star.

A Rivals recruit is ranked 3-star if he has a rating of 5.5, 5.6 or 5.7. A rivals 4-star has a rating of 5.8.

Bring in a class with all Rival 3-star recruits and most having a 5.7 ranking and you probably have a pretty good class.

Rutgers has a class mostly composed of Rival 3-star recruits with one recruit Petersen rated 5.7 who could be a 4-star.

Additionally, coaching and player development are just as important to fielding a good team.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Believe it or not, Cal (yes, Cal!) got a commitment from a four-star (Jojo Solis, a running back from a Catholic high school in Southern California --not the kind of school that easily sends its graduates to a secular school in Northern California)) despite all their issues. Of course, one swallow does not a spring make, but it doesn't say good things about us.

BTW, you can see that he says his motivations are the relationships he built with the staff, the school's academic reputation, and the excitement in the home stadium during the rivalry game with Stanford. These are all things that Rutgers should be able to build. https://bearinsider.com/s/3440/bears-pull-in-commit-from-4-star-soph-rb-jojo-solis/2
Cal gets 2 or 3 four star recruits each year, or at least they got at 2, and in 2020 nabbed 3 four star recruits. But as noted above, Rutgers got 4 in 2022 and 3 in 2021. None in 2023, however.

Jesus Christ, NONE of it matters as it pertains to our recruiting. You’re just hanging onto your argument for the sake of arguing at this point

NCAA and schools didn't want to share money. That's why NIL is the way it is.

They had the opportunity to continue NCAA football video game - but it was ruled they had to share the money (same exact thing many keep saying should be the case for NIL).

What did the NCAA and schools do? Took their license and left.

They don't want to take on the extra expense of sharing their billions and then have get their own books in line.

So they outsourced NIL.
But then again NCAA and member schools have never attempted a "level playing field".
See conference media distributions.

To expect the NCAA to care about making NIL into a "level playing field" is foolish.

As of now there are Seven 4 star NJ Recruits in the 2024 class.
We are leaning ahead for Four of these to commit {all Defense} to Rutgers . It’s way too early but hopefully this plays out. Unfortunately the 2 WRs are a lean for Penn State.

I'd really love to get Jordan Thomas of Don Bosco, Vaboue Toure of Irvington, Kaj Sanders of Bergen Catholic, and Yasin Willis of St. Joe's.

Yes. Thomas is like the #15 ranked DL in the country. That would be huge.
