Why Fire Jordan Now

If Hobbs is doing his job, he is feverishly working right now to identify replacement head coaching candidates, what money he can put together to get them, and the particulars of his approach to each of those coaches to get them. Part of that should be his timetable and particulars on facilities. If, instead, he is still mulling over whether to fire EJ and what options he has to avoid firing him, we are in trouble.

RU's problem hasn't been firing too many coaches. It has been hiring coaches who can't succeed. The only way to stop this merry-go-round that has decimated the basketball team for over two decades is to make a proper hire. That takes work, thoughtfulness and preparedness. That's where Hobbs' attention needs to be right now. He has a big, long, fat window of time to get ready to conduct an organized and thoughtful hiring process. He better be using that opportunity to its fullest extent.

If he isn't, then yes, we will probably be doing this again in 3-4 years. But it won't be because we fire too many coaches. It will be because we're still no good at hiring the right ones.

Sanders said he's not leaving. Nobody is leaving. The team knows they're banged up and behind the 8 ball. They will all be back. Eddie will be back. The roster will fill out. They will be better. No money will be wasted on a buy out. They'll be one year closer to shovels in the ground.

That is what he is saying now. Do you really expect him to say otherwise at this point to the question of how he feels about the team. We shall see. I'm not a psychic, but why take a chance. The only thing you have to lose is to lose a loser coach!

You don't bring him back because then you have to extend him. Just more money invested in a HC who loses too many games. Whether we get rid of him now or in 1-2 years, it only gets more expensive.

Buyout now is about as cheap as its going to get.
