why were the two hottest teams left out of CFP?

No one can reasonably deny that USC and psu are hot as hell and could have created an upset or two. OSU and WA should have been replaced by these two teams, especially OSU.
I'm a Giants fan and look at what getting hot at playoff time delivers. I get it, USC was a tougher sell with three loses, but these teams are playing great.
Clearly the two best teams are in the final game, but the the first two games lacked competition, hot teams should matter.
If you're going with perception versus performance, why not just do away with the CFP or the BCS and go back to using consensus of press/media polls to crown a "national champion?"

An argument that PSU gets in over OSU is topped by Pitt getting in over PSU
How so? If Pitt had won their conference then you could possibly make that argument but losing 4 games put an end to it.

PSU is making BCS look ridiculous. They beat OSU, won the B1G and now look like best team in the nation. Guy who said system is rigged was correct.

Two hottest teams?? Who don't play defense! Stupid thread. Exciting game yes. Great teams, no!

It wouldn't have mattered if Penn State won 51-3. That wouldn't "prove" they belonged. You want to belong? DON'T LOSE TO PITTSBURGH.
