Not commenting on it outside of just amazing to see if your someone who follows recruiting. It doesn’t maybe mean as much in basketball as football because these kids only stick around for 1 year instead of maturing and developing but still impressive

That is amazing. Thankfully, that's three 5-star players we don't have to worry about playing against.

Hilarity will ensue when they lose in the second round of the NCAAs to a mid-major full of seniors who've been playing together for 4 years.

I agree. It’s interesting. IMO, you recruit this class and it looks amazing on paper. But there all 1 and dones. Your almost better off getting classes full of 30-100 ranked players with a one and done sprinkled in there.

Sure, you will catch lightning in a bottle here and there but Winning NC with a team full of freshman is just too hard

The fine folks in Chapel Hill must be calling the NCAA to investigate the boys in Durham lol. Meanwhile, take a look at Duke's current roster. Looks like plenty of guys returning next season that will surround their 2018 class.

You get to Duke for free you need to grab that 4 yr degree. Injuries happen, not panning out happens. Duke degree with you for a lifetime

The one and done phenomena has made recruiting for the top tier recruits a total joke when it comes to academics and the NCAA doesn't care because elite schools like Duke,North Carolina and Kentucky have enormous fan support nationwide.

College basketball needs to get rid of the one and dones . It’s a sham. Easiest thing to do is is the NBA shouldn’t draft a kid that isn’t at least 2 years out of hs . Since the NBA isn’t going to do that , the NCAA shouldn’t be their bitch and de facto minor league. Any kid that gets drafted by the nba after one year still should have the scholarship count towards the sophomore season. Schools will be reluctant to take one and done guys when they have to use up a 2 year scholarship for 1 year of service.

That seems complicated.

Wouldn't the easiest thing be to let kids go straight from high school into the NBA draft. Like they used to be able to?

I agree with this. And I assume kids not drafted because they thought too much of themselves can be signed to a G league contract? Or you then allow them to sign with a college

i think they should either let kids go straight from HS or follow the baseball rules of either straight from HS or you spend 3yrs in college / 21yrs old

Yes, but that’s the NBA’s call and rule . I am just looking at ways he NCAA could put a rule in to stop the one and done guys . Listen, I think most people know many division 1 hoops players are not exactly scholars, but it’s a total sham that these guys don’t have to step a foot inside a classroom during the second semester .

Scholarship rules need to change. Once a scholarship is granted, that scholarship slot is accounted for for the next four years at that school unless the player transfers to another program. The effect would be to spread out the One-And-Done talent.

Yes or something like this.

Yeah or 3 years similar to both college football and baseball

This is the most logical solution. College basketball doesn't actually prepare players for the NBA. It prepares them to play college basketball.

Yes, I believe they Tar Heals made it a requirement to contact the NCAA.... or risk flunking their fake non existent classes.

You are all making a huge assumption: The NCAA (and even further the NBA) doesn't like the current one and done process.
I would argue that is false.

Also, 16 freshman were drafted in 2017.
So we're talking about 16 players out of about 4,500 players (approx 350 teams).
