Women's Golf Heads West For Molly Collegiate - Final Results

Surfside, Cal to be specific. Headlined by defending National Champion and pre-season #1 Stanford, the 11 team event features 7 squads that played in the '24 NCAA Regionals. Rutgers is the geographic outlier here as no other team comes from east of Nevada. Holmdel's Megha Ganne one of Stanford's players but is not entered. The B1G's Washington is also entered.

This is the 2nd year in a row RU is playing in this event. Last season the team finished 9th with Oregon taking the title.

Rutgers will go with a lineup of Jr Grace Lu, Frosh Joline Truong, Sr Lucrezia Rossettin, Soph Emily James, and Soph Krystal Li. Frosh Mami (Judy) Amano is entered as an individual.

So far this season, RU has finished T6th at Wisconsin's' Badger Inv and T4th at Lousiville's Cardinal Classic. Individually Truong has started her RU career in very good fashion with 2 Top 10 finishes, T4 and T6. Transfer from William and Mary, Edison's Lu finished T2 at the Cardinal after holding the lead for a time.

The team will be paired with the U of San Francisco and Washington State for tomorrow's 2 rounds with the 18 hole final Tuesday.

Not a good first 2 rounds for the team. In the morning round Rutgers shot 298 (+16) and a tie for 8th with Oregon State. Lucrezia Rossettin did her part with an Even Par 72, good for a tie for 5th. In the afternoon round Rutgers shot 299 (+17) for a 2 round (+33), dropping to 10th in the 11 team field. Once again Rossettin led with another Even Par round and is currently Tied for 7th. Judy Amano has been the 2nd best (+6) but her score doesn't count for the team.

Today was more of the same as the team shot their 2nd 304 (+16). Around the turn they were +5, only a couple strokes out of 8th but couldn't hold on. Their 3 day total of +49 put them in 10th out of 11, only finishing ahead of Washington State.

The one bright spot was Senior Lucrezia Rossettin's 3 round total of +1, good for a tie for 11th. Frosh Joline Truong shot her best round of the 3, a 75, which helped her be the only other RU player to finish in the top 1/2 of the leaderboard at T32.

No surprise Stanford was never really challenged, scoring a team -13 for the tourney. Their golfers finished 1st, T5, 2 tied for 8th, and T15. Behind them were Cal (+5), Washington (+16), and San Jose St and UC - Davis tying for 4th at (+20).

Based on '23-'24 I'd have expected Lo Rossettin to be a regular in the lineup but has only played 1 of 3.
