So I didn't know Cristobal was pretty much going to be next in line after GS left. Just read an article about it, what happened in negotiations? Would he look at the job again? I think he would be a good hire. What do you guys think?
I don't trust him. Addazio would have been the wise choice. I think Al Golden might be good here if he wasn't such a PSU guy...if he was winning here we'd always look over our shoulder..I always thought we needed a popular local guy here.So I didn't know Cristobal was pretty much going to be next in line after GS left. Let's hope not.
I think Terrell Willis was a good get and compliment to Bruce Presley for us in the Graber era...Graber would have been a winner here with any kind of support. Ray Lucas/Bryan Fortay....we had a core of decent kids back then and then we hire out of our loop Terry Shea...geez..Let's hope not.
Not a Scott Frost guy. I don't think his system would work in the B1G. Let's see how Oregon does without Marriotta. I'm not soldScott Frost! Scott Frost! Scott freaking Frost! I'm just going to keep saying the damn mans name but know we will screw this up. The mans been taught by all of the greats and it is his time. He loves and respects this state.

I keep hearing Oregon offense will never work in The B1G, but it works in The NFC East? The only reason Rich Rod didn't workout in Michigan was because they didn't have time to waist with a non-Michigan man.
We will see how Marriotta does without him! Chip Kelly is just down the damn Turnpike if he and his new staff needs things tweeked. It's a perfect hire and will automatically make RU and The Big Ten Network must see tv. What recruit won't want to play in the offense and become a house hold name in this region?
I think you missed the point. He wasn't saying that Kelly would come here but rather that Frost would have a guy in Kelly less than 75 miles away that could help him out when needed. That's pretty funny...Chip Kelly comes to RU. I bet he is just chomping at the bit to leave an NFL team where he has almost complete control , prestige and additionally gets paid about 5 mill per year. I know he would walk across the Delaware and paddle up the Raritan to get to Piscataway.
When TP 'hired' him I agreed with you but after the resulting drama and his wife etc i wonder how much he wants to be our HC....remember GS is from NJ....MC is a native Floridian who decided he was staying at an FIU rather than take a fully stocked RU ready to go....no rebuild now. I realize what kind of recruiter he is and D'onofrio too...after all AL....he stole a lot of kids we thought were coming here....I still think GS had he stayed was close to achieving his goals and with Hafley damn near had that fence around NJ built. I'd like to see GS back here but few buy the same real estate twice and under current Pres and AD he wouldn't come IMO....I wonder if he'd be AD material like Barry Alvarez.Have to disagree NickyNewark. graber was a disaster by the end of his tenure. Even if graber got the support, graber wouldn't have known what to do with it. He gets credit though, for the stadium, which was a fantastic achievement, at the time.
recruited some decent frontline talent, but no depth. Never beat penn state or syracuse. kids flunking out left and right. Kids not working as hard as they needed to work. by the time he was canned, Graber left a bare cupboard for terry shea. by the time shea left, we didn't even have a cupboard.
we are light, light years ahead of where we were in the Graber years. More so than any coach that preceded him, schiano had a plan, and hired the right coaches to execute that plan. cristobal and d'nofrio among others, worked like dogs to make rutgers respectable those first three years they were there. schiano was the one who shut the door down on syracuse. after that, syracuse never performed at a elite level again, because they lacked the jersey talent which helped make them so.
Schiano built the culture and Flood maintained it. We might not win every game, but most players prepare to be champions. You can see that in their physical development.
You can Flood, you better hire someone who understands the rutgers culture. schiano would be ideal, but if not him, cristobal would be a great second choice. there's is a reason pernetti offered him, the guy has a great work ethic, charisma, recruits well, coached under saban and schiano, and led the FIU program to a minor bowl. Frankly, for our purse, i don't think there's a better hire.
I completely agree....no air raid Leach style gimmickry....pro style is suited for the B1G and northeast.Bamm Bamm. we're going to need at least 5 years to install that offense, properly. People don't have the patience here. the program has been built around the pro style, and thats the way it should remain.
I don't see OSU running the ProI completely agree....no air raid Leach style gimmickry....pro style is suited for the B1G and northeast.
I don't see OSU running the Pro
And seriously, how many mud bowl, 2 inches of snow of the ground games do we play in a year? 1 maybe?

God no!! There are so many other alternatives. We don't need another Schiano type coach here.So I didn't know Cristobal was pretty much going to be next in line after GS left. Scott Frost would be interesting to see at Rutgers. He's a small town Nebraska kid, he could do well at RU. A lot of Nebraska fans wanted him, but many want to see him run his own program first. He was a finalist for the Boise job before Harsin got it.
I was surprised he didn't leave after last year, but with Adams this year it helps. He wants to be a head coach I'll tell you that much.
More importantly is how long the change and players suited for it would take....we don;t have the patience as RutgersAL said and i agree...he said 5...my guess at least 3 and more to perfect...admittedly my preference is old fashioned smashmouth FB....OSU has the 4 and 5 star players to do whatever they want,,,,better yet look at UM and RR....complete disaster. And they have a solid brand...we would meltdown.. experimenting requires patience.I don't see OSU running the Pro

We are not going to hire someone away from a P5 school. In reply to the original post: No, he has NO P5 Head Coaching experience, Next Up?
I disagree.I completely agree....no air raid Leach style gimmickry....pro style is suited for the B1G and northeast.
Why not? Oregon State hired the coach from Wisconsin. That to me seems like a clear downgrade other than Anderson being more of a west coast guy.We are not going to hire someone away from a P5 school.
YOu assume its unfunded. I assume that after the Flood disaster, the big donors that we have will pony up enough to attract a decent coach and the school. If not then yes, obviously you get what you pay for.Scott Frost would be an amazing hire.
But seriously, anyone who is good, why would they walk into this unfunded dumpster fire right now?
I think the assumption is that hes gonna get fired sooner than later. Obviously hes not leaving the Eagles. That's pretty funny...Chip Kelly comes to RU. I bet he is just chomping at the bit to leave an NFL team where he has almost complete control , prestige and additionally gets paid about 5 mill per year. I didn't mean "hire away" from a P5 school. I meant someone with P5 Head Coaching experience. We are not going to hire someone away from a P5 school.
What the hell has Cristobal done other than dress well?
