Would Cristobal look at Rutgers again?

Didn't Cristobal run a pure spread Offense at FIU??

Not wanting to put the cart before the ox, but if we're gonna be looking for a new coach, I want him to have impeccable PRO I credentials. THIS is Rutgers Football identity and I for one would not like to see it change.

Last time RU had a HC job opening, RU didn't have decades and decades of Big Ten revenues starring them in the face.

RU will have access to a Niagara Falls of cash....so odds are, RU could get a lot more accomplished resume names than Cristobal if/when a HC job opens up.
We'd be hard pressed to find better than MC unless we can get a Hermann/Rhule type or similar young energetic future star type to stay here for awhile..

Knight_Light, what you knightfan7, and other non-alums have to understand is that Rutgers isn't a football program thats attached to a university. Rutgers is a university that has a football program. The primary emphasis for any incoming coach has to be Academics first. Our academic progress is a point of pride for many alumni. Mario understands this better than anyone else, because he helped Schiano with the monitoring of players to make sure that they were progressing satisfactorily. Our APR ranking is a team effort involving EVERYONE in the program.

.

Thanks for clearing that up Al. Never knew that. What an insulting and classless statement. I support Rutgers more than most of your former classmates. You can stick that attitude up your self promoting butt.

Simple question. Did you know this when you made the Huggins video?

NO..we dont want Crystobol

And there isnt a quality coach on the planet that would risk his career on the (what has been termed) "dumpster fire" at RU....with how we dont support our coaches and hang them out to dry.

Any P5 coach would take one look at this board and our called "fans"(not to mention the "wheres the best pizza" and "where can I get a good bed"...posts) and would just chuckle and walk away....
they arent coming here for ANY price
Then their not our kind of guy to start with....we want someone whose NOT afraid of a challenge.

I had no idea that you have personal met with, analyzed and reviewed all the other work that hundreds of other college football coaches have done in regards to academic follow-up/importance.

Congrats for obviously doing just that. (or, could it be that you are a cristobal fan boy and you want him and only him to be the next RU HC?)

Ironically, FIU under Cristobal was one of the first football programs to be penalized because of low APR scores and even lost a scholarship because of it.

Sorry, I meant to say no AAC the year Al was talking about, he has already
acknowledged his mistake.
Going forward I got a kick out of your VERY YOUNG comment. Well over 50 years
ago we had two factions in school. The collegents and the NickiNewarks.
The college look was pony tails, pleaded skirts, bobby socks, for the girls
and the boys wore white socks, sneakers. Lettered sweat shirts, and pegged
pants.. the Nicky Newark boys wore wing tips, dress flare pants, high roll collars,
The girls had long hair, made very stylish, black stockings, 4 inches heels, and
very dressed up. The two factions sat across the class room from each other.
Never went to the same parties, never talked, they were the atheletes,
the Nicky Newarks were the hoods.. So I was called NickyNewark, not yet
NickKnight. This was well before the hippie movement. So young?
I don,t think so.
LOL...Don't forget the Italian knit shirt over the High roll...and burgundy pants, silk socks and chicago box haircuts..Sorry but beings we were in it the yr it started 3 yrs ago i think...i couldn't figure not remembering...I obviously missed the point of the year..shoot....i was born in 51...you might be older than me..Yes I was born at St Micheals hospital in the heart of the North Ward near Bloomfield Ave but raised on the fringes in Belleville.

I didn't mean to insult you and i appreciate that you support Rutgers. But just because you support Rutgers doesn't mean you understand Rutgers Context. No one who understands how this program was built asks the question:

What the hell has Cristobal done other than dress well?

It shows that you don't understand Mario's contribution to Rutgers Football. Mario, Mark D, the other coaches on staff and ultimately Schiano worked tirelessly to build the foundation those first three years, which were the toughest. Mario understands the culture, heck he helped implement it.

I don't want a return to the graber/shea years where we played too many freshmen year after year, because too many players were flunking out. Have you noticed the number of freshmen playing? Its very few, because the vast majority are redshirting, which they should be. One thing that Flood got right was the maintenance of the APR. Its a shame barnwell was an academic casualty but his situation is anomolous. We're better off keeping Flood, rather than hiring someone who won't maintain Rutgers players' academic standing.

I and many others would feel a greater degree of comfort with Schiano, or one of his disciples, because they understand the Rutgers Way.

I was also born in St. Michaels a decade earlier. Born in Newark, at 6 years old
moved to and raised in N. Bergen. Most of my relatives were born in Sicily, his parents
came over with his older bothers and sisters in 1909. my father was first one born in
America.

High roll shirts with the metal stays, iridescent pants, and pointy black shoes. Joe Faccione's House of Fashion on Main Street in Orange was the go to place.

And to top it off a suede winter jacket that you couldn't wear if it rained or snowed lol.

I don't care about hundreds of other football coaches. FIU doesn't have the resources to provide the academic support that we have at Rutgers. The HFC can't do everything, its a team effort.

what is most important to me is maintaining our strong performance in the classroom, recruiting well, developing players, and giving us the chance to be the best we can be. Schiano, or one of his disciples have the foundation of knowledge to do that. In many ways, Flood was perfect for our situation. Its just too bad that this had to happen. Ultimately, I would like to maintain our culture, the way it is, if that is possible.

Do you know which Dr brought you into the world....Dr Flanagan whom i met on other business there 24 yrs later as head of the hospital...not sure its still there but my uncle Mike went to the HS of the same name before Essex Catholic opened its doors..

Pink on Pink highrolls and knits and Sharkskins and of course our Cabretta leather jackets..lol..

I'm going to partially side with Al here. The situation at FIU has to be taken into account when discussing Cristobal's record there. I think he actually would be a good candidate, but I certainly wouldn't want to start there. He would be a good fallback option if our dream candidate(s), whoever he or they might be, didn't work out.

But I generally prefer to wait until there is a job opening to discuss such matters.

I would think Cristobol is waiting to make a run at the Miami job if Golden is forced out.

I don't get the people who want frost. He runs a speed spread style offense. We do not have the personnel for that and would have to completely drop Russo out of the picture at qb if we take frost amongst others that are already on the team that do not fit that offemse

Ed Bloustein's mother-in-law brought me into this world.

bunch of guys talkin out of their ar$$es here. MC?...move on....

Because he's a better fit than just about anyone else you can come up with, aside from GS. He'd come at the right price and has the background, including recruiting connections and aptitude, to succeed here. Finally, he's recruited well here before and helped build the infrastructure which ultimately made us successful. He knows the culture, that academics are primary. He can continue building up Schiano and Floods efforts, with minimal changes. We don't need a tear down, we need someone who can build on top of what we already have. Rutgers can take the next step with someone like him, if the school decides to make a change.
