I don't understand why the rankings have Ashnault so low. The algorithm has him behind Meredith, Hayes and DiCamillo, but then it predicts that Ash would win those matchups by scores of 7-4, 5-4, and 11-4. Also, Ash obviously beat Meredith earlier this year, and it doesn't seem to have that match logged.

You can't explain it because it makes no sense. I love wrestlestat since it's a great and easy way to see a wrestlers history of matches, but the rankings are real headscratchers.

I saw Ashnault as low as he is and I saw Suriano get knocked down 4 spots because he got hurt..that's when I stopped looking at it

I'd like an explanation. Not sure how the math supports ranking a 5-1 wrestler, whose best win this season was over #51 ranked wrestler, higher than Ashnault, among others, but hey, just laugh it off if you don't have the answers.

chill brah. I have nothing to do wrestlestat so I don't know why you'd expect me to have all the answers but I'll see if I can try and help you understand.

the creator of wrestlestat has mentioned that the rankings are based an Elo rating system. here's the wikipedia page on how that works.

I'm pretty confident wrestlestat has no inherent anti-rutgers bias, so we can rule that out. I'm guessing Ashnault is being held back by his strength of schedule. the B1G is relatively weak at 141 this year. as for Hayes, he only has 1 loss, so that is probably helping him. plus his RS season was decent. it's hard to account for things like injuries and other fluke results. but I didn't write the script for the program wrestlestat runs on so my apologies if that answer is unsatisfactory.

if you are still furious about the math for not ranking Ashnault higher, my sympathies, but please take it out on someone else.

you're cherry picking. cornell beat ohio state head to head and they are ranked 8 places lower.

if A beats B and B beats C and C beats A, there is no perfect way to rank everyone.
