Wrestling Flo rankings : RU #9 Dual, 13 Tourny team !

That's awesome. Surprised Perrotti moved up that far, and also surprised Ash moved down. I can see they wanted to move other guys up, but after MD against Abidin, there wasn't really any reason to move him down.

Lewis should be on there soon.... he is the real deal.

Question: Why has RU had 12 matches and other schools as few as 4?

Other schools prefer to be in Tournys rather than dual matches. At the end of the year it's all about the NCAA tourny . RU is in the Midlands Tourny at end of Dec along w about 30 other teams. We also might qualify for the National Duals , held in Feb, the top 8 Big 10 teams go. Big 10 tourny is also pretty special . As each inidvidual wrestler advances, the school acculates points. .

FORMAT: On February 14, 2016, the top 8 BigTen teams will be selected to participate based on their NWCA Coaches Poll Rankings. The dual meet champion from the 7 “non bigTen” conferences will also receive an automatic bid to participate. One “non BigTen” wild card team will be chosen based on its coaches poll ranking to round out the field of 16 teams

Surprised too by perotti, hope he can maintain a hi level of performance. In the past he's been up and down/inconsistent. Not that impressed by McCabe at 125 but really impressed with Giraldo. Been watching Giraldo since youth days always been tough but he looks kind of sucked out at 133 might be cutting alot

Question: Why has RU had 12 matches and other schools as few as 4?

I was wondering the same thing and RU has wrestled more than anyone else on that list. And Cornell has actually wrestled against only 3 opponents so apparently outside of the Garden Grapple, they haven't wrestled at all, at least in duos.

One has to think that the number of contests and the quality of the opponents will better prepare RU for the rest of the conference season and for what lies beyond that. Moving up in the Big Ten standings, which we appear poised to do, will be really sweet.

Keep it going, guys.

Early season is pretty much up in the air as to how you schedule it. Some school send their guys to tournaments, others wrestle in dual events. Then the conference schedule starts in December, with a long layoff for holiday tournaments, and resumes in January. For our early season, we did entirely dual meet events.

We had the Rutgers Duals (3 dual meets in one day), Northeast Duals (3 dual meets in one day) and the grapple at the garden (2 duals in one day). Then we went out to Oregon for a tri-meet with Oregon State and Utah Valley. So that is 10 dual meets in the OOC, and we have now had 2 duals in conference (iowa and Nebraska).

The 10 dual meets OOC is pretty extreme, but Scott likes dual meets, and has said he really wanted to go crazy this year to get our guys ready to face the best competition.

Cornell, by contrast, did a dual meet with Drexel, and the Grapple at the Garden (2 dual meets). Other than that, they had their starters at a NY tournament, and CKLV tournament in Vegas.

Those are pretty much the two extremes. Most teams probably have about 5 duals and 1 or 2 tournaments under their belt so far.

This is great for you guys. The team ranking is good but the individual rankings is even better IMO. There is still a long way to go and every individual has to do it on the mat but B1G and NCAA seedings can make a really big difference in how things shake out. Man is 125 going to be interesting.
