Wrestling Weekend: Six Set for Lehigh's Sheridan Tournament

It's nice that we are seeing some guys, but unless Barbosa is hurt wonder why he isn't wrestling in a tournament like this while he still has his redshirt since he's only wrestled in 3 matches and the first semester is nearly over.

141: Joe Fongaro
149: Michael Cetta
165: Luke Gayer
184: NR/18 Brian Soldano
197: PJ Casale
197: Hadyn Packer

It has been asked a few times. Wouldn't you think it's an easy question to answer?

I thank Bill and the other insiders for sharing what information that they can or are comfortable sharing. I am always astonished at how privileged some of the other posters on here presume themselves to be. Did it ever occur to any of you that the coaches actually do not want to share injury information for obvious reasons? The insiders likely feel the same way. Did it ever occur to you that a student athlete's personal injury information is also covered by HIPAA rules? Did it ever occur to you, all that being said, that the most likely reason for a guy not wrestling is an injury or physical issue of some kind? And, if not injury related it is likely a personal issue of some kind? I mean, come on folks.

Why aren't guys like O'Neil, Desantis, and other non starters not wrestling? Is it a money thing? I just don't understand why one would still be on the team if not even doing opens.

Rutgers can only bring 6 guys to events that are not on the official schedule. The remaining guys can attend but have to pay their own way and can not wear Rutgers singlets. It’s a pretty stupid rule honestly.

Ahh yeah that's an antiquated rule. I guess we'll see if anyone unofficially enters.

They typically mention the guys that are going unattached (if any) in the preview, as they did for the Princeton Open even though its not a official date on the schedule. With that being said, I wouldn't count on anyone else competing, but things could obviously change.

I, too, appreciate Bill and others who share information. I consider myself curious and interested as an enthusiastic follower of Rutgers wrestling. Privileged, I think not. I would not expect to be told of any details, especially if they could be considered personal. Bill could have said Barbosa is out, but we hope to see him back soon. He could have said Barbosa is hurt or injured. I don't consider those things particularly personal. I had bad bronchitis last month and am okay with others knowing it; I don't consider it very personal.

I'm curious: what information do you think is okay for fans to know? What information do you think helps encourage greater interest in the sport? Help me reconcile the drive for donations against "it's none of your business to know".

Unless the person reporting the injury is a "coverd entity", they are free of HIPAA rules and regulations. Teammates, people watching practice, and most likely even the coaches/Rutgers could share information without penalty under HIPAA guidelines if they wanted to. I dont think they should. I agree with all your other points here.

Anyone in the know and gives out information here is appreciated but I don't expect it nor do I feel the drive to get answers. It's the wrestlers own injury or personal problem and they probably dont want it disclosed publically. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it you who pressed multiple times to find out what happened to Poz after the MSU injury match (2 years ago?) and was not pleased because of the lack of public information?

You, Harley and SCNJ are such, personal privacy defender, asswads. If they are injured..so what. We aren't asking for their girlfriends home address. You 3 shitsticks spend more time being combative and offer nothing at all with reliable info or wrestling knowledge.
Give it a rest idiot. Calling me a privacy defender is funny. Ha! You derived that because I said I dont need to know and the wrestler probably doesn't want it public. You are a true Frank Clumbo.

Probably, yes. I wonder why football players are less sensitive to injury reports.

I wonder if you're confusing LETSGORU91 with LetsGoRUwrestling, who matches your characterization perfectly.

Scott has been brining in guys for a week or so as resident athletes to work with our guys. He recently brought in Brock Mueller and Rocky Elam from Missouri to wrestle with our guys and will continue to bring in talent to help get our guys better. We will have 20 guys going to the Midlands which should be interesting. Yara is training over in Russia which has been good for him.

Will he be back for Midlands?

Enjoy your All American moniker because that's only title you'll ever earn. I've yet you offer any valid info, other than riding Leonard and SCNJ jocks with the snide comments. Its amazing.Zeros like yourself have a place to act like authorities, with no real life experience.Pathetic.

That's good to know, Bill. Thanks.

Rocky Elam wrestles for Missouri and has been injured all year and hasn’t wrestled a match this year. You sure you’re not mistaken?

I’m actually in favor of more info being publicized because the sport shouldn’t be top secret. I’m also in favor of you to stop pretending that you’re a former Rutgers all American

Ha! Keep believing that. I'm coming out in January to February see some home matches. I'll inbox you and you can come out to home meets. It might take up three quarters of your paycheck to pay for nosebleeder seats but i'm sure you can use the exercise given your lack of athletic background.

Looks like we only have 4 wrestling today as Fongaro and Gayer aren't listed in the bracket

Weird how often you post at 3:30am mountain time. Guess you can’t sleep again. Meanwhile, 5:30 eastern time where most Rutgers fans live is a reasonable time to be waking up. Keep making subtle comments about moving out west and fly fishing as if that’s going to fool anyone.

early riser my friend and early sleeper.Always have been always will be.Im assuming you get up late to get to mail box to collect your government cheese checks.🙂

Bill said he hasn’t met him yet.. but yeah Crackers said he’s coming to some home matches in jan/feb so hopefully it happens..
Bill knew me way back in the early 80s when I wrestled. We had a cordial relationship. We weren't going out and partying or having family get togethers. He knows me very well. You don't have to put him on the spot to vouche for me. He is a wonderful man. I know he was having health issues with his wife and I hope she is doing well.He is a super fan and the backbone to our fan base.

Crackers is a good man and I know him from when he wrestled in the 80’s. Crackers, my beautiful wife of 56 years died of Alzheimer's in October 2022. It was a blessing for God to take her home so she would not suffer anymore. Thanks Crackers for asking!

Soldano with 2 falls and moves in the finals at 184.

Casale in the consolation bracket and Packer has been eliminated.

Yes u know crackers from the 80s but if u met up w current crackers at one of the home meets, if for nothing, it would silence SCNJ constantly thinking Crackers is making up his identity.
