At least White shown some improvement this year…Clark yeah losing to another unranked w zero offense… Cetta got more upside…Clark has also regressed. Has literally zero offense. He’s White 2.0. Give me anyone else.
I agree White looks better then last year. Maybe competition helping. At least White shown some improvement this year…Clark yeah losing to another unranked w zero offense… Cetta got more upside…
That kid Fongaro beat, Jordan Decatur, was a huge recruit coming out of hs that commited to Ohio state originally.. when huge recruits don’t work out at bigger schools ppl don’t really notice.I'd like to see more of Fongaro. The kid is real tough and seems like he is a great progression wrestler. He gets better as seasons go on. I can see him as a Round of 12 type kid.
That kid came to wrestle. Basically totally outmuscled shawver. You can't take anyone lightly in division one.
Kid is unranked.. Shawver is supposed to be a AA contender this year.. in all his interviews he talks bout being a national champ is the goal.. not looking likely…That kid came to wrestle. Basically totally outmuscled shawver. You can't take anyone lightly in division one.
If u say so.. everyone’s goal is a National title in wrestling.. just saying it is not enough.Shawver can beat anyone. He showed that last year. One upset loss in December doesn’t change his goals.
He is what he is..low AA to rd 12 guy.If u say so.. everyone’s goal is a National title in wrestling.. just saying it is not enough.
It’s true, until proven otherwise .. kids these days listen to a lot of Tony Robbin’s and think if they think it and speak it will magically just happen.. “law of attraction/positive thinking” I think in the long run this will do more harm then good bc now u can start thinking I said it and believe it so now I’m set and it must happen.. and can just lead to complacency..He is what he is..low AA to rd 12 guy.
It's two bad losses, not just this one. And it's early in the season for the other guys too, not just Rutgers. I hate to see Shawver decline. He needs a practice partner that is better than what he has available now. Rivera did him a lot of good. I'm thinking zero AA's this year is a possibility. It’s true, until proven otherwise .. kids these days listen to a lot of Tony Robbin’s and think if they think it and speak it will magically just happen.. “law of attraction/positive thinking” I think in the long run this will do more harm then good bc now u can start thinking I said it and believe it so now I’m set and it must happen.. and can just lead to complacency..
Dylan is one of my favorite wrestlers in all of college. He comes to scrap every match. All great wrestlers loose matches like these. It was better that it happened now.Kid is unranked.. i know that I don’t think SCNJ knows that though. It's two bad losses, not just this one. And it's early in the season for the other guys too, not just Rutgers. I hate to see Shawver decline. Bro I’m a Shawver fan too.. I root for all our guys but just going to call a spade a spade tho. Yeah a lot of wrestlers can go through a slump but we seen not all of them come back from it.. we can hoorah all we want and make up reasons why losing to unrank is fine.. but he said he’s going to be champ and I really want to believe in this too..Dylan is one of my favorite wrestlers in all of college. He comes to scrap every match. Noto, Ragusin all got beat by much lesser wrestlers this past couple of weeks. He will build on it.Im actually impressed with Turley as of late.Seems to be back on his horse. Peterson too.The key here is consistency. That seems to plague us every year. Olivieri is really coming on.Would love to see that kid make the podium.I hope they put Fongaro in.He seems like a really gamer and can make some noise. Clark...he got beat, but I like that he attacked at the end. Soldano seems to be keeping his head where it needs to be too.Poz.I don't know.Im just not sold on him anymore. He just seems to be content.I know he is winning but just doesn't look next level at this weight. Yara...I like this kid.He has that combination of a fat man heavyweights up but is also super slick. He really needs to get stronger though. If I were him, I'd be lifting and doing hardcore powerlifting.Cardio is not the issue. It is strength.White looks OK but is too defensive with his style of wrestling.
He is what he is..low AA to
Agreed. I think losing donny and seabass really has taken a toll on him. My biggest concern is that if he all americans this year and graduates in May,with the one year of eligibility, he ends up leaving. I don't understand why we can't get a couple.More middle and lower weight top flight coaches? By the way,why did Leo leave?Bro I’m a Shawver fan too.. I root for all our guys but just going to call a spade a spade tho. I don’t mind the positive thinking. They all should think they’ll be NC otherwise why do it?It’s true, until proven otherwise .. kids these days listen to a lot of Tony Robbin’s and think if they think it and speak it will magically just happen.. “law of attraction/positive thinking” I think in the long run this will do more harm then good bc now u can start thinking I said it and believe it so now I’m set and it must happen.. and can just lead to complacency..
Know what? He lost two matches, one of which was to an AA in a match where he got caught for a split second, the other is a disappointing loss to a guy he should beat. That’s wrestling.i know that I don’t think SCNJ knows that though.
I didn't recall that for Shawver last year (I think I pretty much watched every match) but I checked Wrestlestat to refresh my memory.I don’t mind the positive thinking. They all should think they’ll be NC otherwise why do it?
Didn’t Shawver have a pretty bad early season last year? If I recall he didn’t do well at the Black Knight and then came back like a house of fire. Maybe just needs to get his confidence back. The one thing about him is he can get to anyone’s legs. That’s dangerous for anyone
I would never argue that Shawver had a better season then I had.I didn't recall that for Shawver last year (I think I pretty much watched every match) but I checked Wrestlestat to refresh my memory.

Shawver finished 26-7 last year, was B1G champion at 133 (only other B1G champions were AA (4 times) and NS (1 time at RU)), and finished 7th at nationals to podium. His 7 losses were to (using the Wrestlestat rankings here, take them for what they are worth) were to:
#15 Latona in the VT (SV1 4-1)
#14 Basile (Army) at the Black Knight Invitational (SV1 8-5) where he went 3-1
#4 Ragusin (4-1) Midlands where he went 4-1
#4 Ragusin (8-5) in the Michigan dual
#18 Wells (SV1 5-2) in the Minnesota dual
#4 Ragusin (9-3) at NCAAs
#9 Frost (ISU) (SV1 9-6)
Guys he beat included #4 Ragusin to win the B1G championship, #11 Bouzakis (OSU), #10 Nagao (PSU), #25 Brown twice (MD), #12 Teske twice (Iowa), #20 Phipps (Bucknell), and #7 Orine (NCSU).
He was pretty consistent all year. Best non-AA/NS/SR season ever at RU? Surage, Perrotti, Tanis, Theobold, DelVecchio, Poz, and Yara may have arguments to make.
LOL! I expected no less! 😀I would never argue that Shawver had a better season then I had.
Thanks for clarification. So we can put to bed that rumor and just accept the fact that good wrestlers lose matches because it’s D1 sports and anyone who isn’t a generational talent is capable of losing a match to someone not as talented. For you folks, Shawver NEVER trained with Rivera in practice so forget about that myth. I go to practice so I see with my own eyes. Also I verified with the coaches for when I was not at practice and they confirmed that.
Why would they not train together, they are similar in weight and both wrestled for PR?For you folks, Shawver NEVER trained with Rivera in practice so forget about that myth. I go to practice so I see with my own eyes. Also I verified with the coaches for when I was not at practice and they confirmed that.
Didn’t think you knew he had two upset loss in Dec. according to rankings. Yes it’s wrestling.. we had plenty of guys that gone through slumps that have never bounce backed to their peaks since… it’s ok to be worried if something may be wrong when these slumps happen.. that’s wrestling.Know what? He lost two matches, one of which was to an AA in a match where he got caught for a split second, the other is a disappointing loss to a guy he should beat. That’s wrestling.
I was under the impression that he did. I now wonder why Rivera didn't work with Shawver. Seabass was being paid as a resident athlete, which I thought was to be of benefit to the Rutgers wrestlers. Who did Rivera work with? Who did Shawver work with? For you folks, Shawver NEVER trained with Rivera in practice so forget about that myth. I go to practice so I see with my own eyes. Once again this doesn’t make any sense to me. Coach himself has said, Iron sharpens iron. So you have a resident athlete that is a world medalist and training for the Olympics, and in the same room a potential (at that time) AA right around the same size and weight. So the best way to get the most out of this talent is to put them on opposite sides of the room and as Bill said NEVER have them train together.I was under the impression that he did. I now wonder why Rivera didn't work with Shawver. Seabass was being paid as a resident athlete, which I thought was to be of benefit to the Rutgers wrestlers. Who did Rivera work with? Who did Shawver work with?
Seabass was very much an outsider on the team. There are stories of him sitting alone in the stands and not really forming friendships with other wrestlers on the team. Also, Suriano was not really a friendly sort for the team. These high level guys we have had seemed to be on an island all by themselves. I was always pretty friendly with everyone, but unfortunately lost contact with everyone since I moved out West.I was under the impression that he did. I now wonder why Rivera didn't work with Shawver. Seabass was being paid as a resident athlete, which I thought was to be of benefit to the Rutgers wrestlers. Who did Rivera work with? Who did Shawver work with?
U know what I notice in a lot of those PSU interviews.. most of the kids are not results oriented and more focus on the process.. most of them say stuff like wrestling to have fun, grateful to wrestle, being the best version of themselves and working to improve..I don’t mind the positive thinking. They all should think they’ll be NC otherwise why do it?

The SKWC website still lists Rivera as a resident athlete. One other listed is Kemol Bagakov; is he there? I never hear anything about him. Is he training with the team members? These questions typically don't get answered. Why would they not train together, they are similar in weight and both wrestled for PR?
