No. 12 Rutgers wrestling (11-5, 3-3) faces Maryland (8-7, 3-2) on Friday night in College Park

Yeah it's a great match! I put the replay back on for Ohio St vs MN. Good match so far (even though it ended).
Heard OSU/Minny came down to the last match. Can only watch so much with ping ponging between ours on computer and Nebby/Iowa on TV. These are fun and good for the sport, psu match not so much I turned that off.

I had my own triplecast...lol... Main TV BTN... Brought down my bedroom smart tv for RU match... Used desktop computer for minny/osu....

Really disappointed in Shawver and Turley this year. Coming off B10 championship and AA thought Shawver would take next level jump. Instead hes regressed. His offense isnt nearly what it was nor his effort to ride. Seems happy he AA’d and really no care to jump levels. This is where PSU is just different. Every guy wants to be better.

Turley mistake coming back. Should have just hung it up. Yeah hes a couple good efforts but completely inconsistent and lots of WTF moments for this experienced a guy. No business losing that match besides lack of effort and focus.

On flip side, really hope Peterson can stay confident between his ears bc he is as good as anyone at 125 when he wants to be. Olivieri can stay with most anyone, needs to believe he can win. Really wish we just stay with Barbosa. Harer has to develop offense from feet or will not get to next level. Starting to wonder if SCW was right decision.

Which is a joke. I know some on here think RS but IMO you wrestle the best bc no idea what future holds.
At this point you're not going to waste a year for 9 matches total. Now earlier in the year many of us were clamoring for him to take the spot from White and it would have made sense. At this point White is who he is, a little better but too slow and never made the jump to being able to finish a shot.

This is the same thing that is holding Clark back but he's got the speed. He gets deep shots and for some reason just stops. Like he's trying to figure out a calculus problem he got wrong on a test earlier that day.

Pretty much every wrestler who has had success at Rutgers has used a redshirt. In fact I would argue that our most disappointing prospects were rushed into things to early.

These decisions are made by the coaching staff and the wrestlers together. Barbosa wouldn’t be redshirting if he wasn’t on board with it.

What does that mean?
Currently you have 5 years to compete for 4 years(not including olympic redshirt, medical redshirt). In wrestling terms you can compete in 4 NCAA tourns in your 5 years of college. It looks like the new rule is you can compete for 5 years, so 5 NCAA tourns in 5 years.

It’s a different case for everyone, but I don’t think there should be a hard rule that most freshman recruits need a RS to succeed. Generally, if they are the best guy and are healthy, ready, and want to go then they should imo.

Maybe it’s more of a young man’s sport now but what’s a bit bothersome is a lot of our guys seem to have their best years early on for some reason.. Poz, Turley, Soldano, even White had perhaps his best year in RS season.

Turley honestly should've gotten his degree and moved on.

The best thing about this, eventually Carter S. will not be the only wrestler with 5 NCAA Champs

Respectfully diaagree. Barbosa is clearly the best wrestler at 165 and with upcoming new rules there is zero reason not to wrestle him.

Barbosa is good!

Harrer also...to me, it looks like he just needs to get stronger (which will come)

Agree with the disappointment regarding Turley and Shawver. Turley looks gassed all the time...even midway thru the 1st period!

Not sure what's up with Shawver ... something is just not connecting this year. Almost like he's not as switched on or focused.

Btw...kudos to Clark...he just seems to keep improving. I like him.

I’ve heard rumblings since the beginning of January that Shawver is battling some type of inj , you don’t look as good as he did last season and just fall off like the has

I like this rule and it will definitely help dual line ups

I think that Shawver has been nursing an injury of some type all season, especially after he was held out of the Princeton dual. That dude wants to wrestle all the time. But, all you couch wrestlers can keep telling us that Shawver sucks and is content with his 7th place finish last year.
Of all sports wrestling is the hardest to perform at your best when injured. And people don’t realize these warriors are constantly injured and battling the scale.

Whoa whoa...I've never said he sucks. Actually saying the opposite...that i think somethings wrong.

Has anyone said he sucks? There's a big difference with that and saying he has dropped off in performance, which he has.

I agree that he is performing at a lower level than he did last year. I have seen comments that he may be content with AA'ing last year and may be coasting this year.

I don't think coasting, but may not have trained as hard or with the same drive. It's just speculation, but his performance says something, even if we can't be sure of the reason. I raised a red flag in my mind at the beginning of the season when Goodale gave his initial report on the team. He said, and I have to paraphrase: "I don't want to say he's (Shawver) been distracted. .." Well, he did say it by that comment.

I recall. He said something along the lines of. Now that Dylan is an AA everyone wants a piece of his time, and that makes things more difficult when you are trying to get better and win a national championship
