Don’t subscribe to that nut jobs rhetoric. Minnesota is one of the best teams in the country. Just being competitive in this dual was going to be an uphill battle.

Yara is a reigning AA, put up as good of a fight as you possibly can against this guy, and Gable was totally bored and still pinned him haha. Gable is unbelievable
I wish gable Stevenson was successful in the NFL, wwe, ufc or using his degree so I don’t have to watch him in the NCAA as a 30 year old. It’s boring at this point….guy needs to move on.

It’s not boring, it’s an absolute treat to watch him. He doesn’t stop moving and is always looking to score. Good for the sport. NIL probably paying him better than other options.
The guy is 30 years old…I guess he’s looking to eke out the last bit of money from wrestling 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️. He’s in his 7th year of eligibility….i guess to each their own.

I’m sure there’s guys out there who are older than both these guys but when you dominate like Gable it just gets boring. I feel the same way about Penn state. Wrestling is a niche sport, if there’s no “drama” because the same guys or teams win every time it’s bad for the sport.
TV viewership for NCAA finals was down 28% ‘23 vs ‘24. The sport needs new blood in my opinion.
I dont mind some "home cooking" on calls. But it seems like we never benefit from "home cooking" at Jersey Mikes.

One continuing issue, and it was mentioned above, is that our guys always look smaller and less muscular than guys on the teams that keep beating us (Va. Tech, NC State, OSU, PSU, Minnesota). The coaching and strength and conditioning staffs must see this too if we can all see it. What are we doing about that? Can somebody closer to the program give us some insight? It is a pretty stark contrast in body shapes when watching these duals.

I don't agree with this take. Last season we lost to Minnesota 20-12, 6-4 in bouts. Cetta lost 3-0, Gayer lost 2-0, Soldano lost 4-2, Pox lost 4-1 (SV), and Shawver lost 5-2 (SV). That was a close close loss.
Last year was one of their worst teams in more than a decade, they finished 22nd at Nationals and we couldn't even beat them at their worst.

Not typical, but given strength on top vs developmental bottom game (at least as a true Frosh), maybe he takes top when it counts in March? What he did vs Illinois was Impressive.
This is a good point, I have asked coaches "why did you put him on bottom?" and they say, they wanted the wrestler to get the feel, to see if they could get out etc. and this would make their decisions at the indiv tournaments.
Today was a head scratcher. What happened to his neutral defense which has been impressive?
McEnelly is gonna be a good one. Salazar is at 197 because he can't beat him. SCW will be fine it's his 1st go around
