Rutgers begins Big Ten Conference action this weekend with back-to-back road matches at No. 24 Indiana in Bloomington and No 4 Ohio State in Columbus

Time to keep Barbosa in. That is, unless he wants to redshirt. Need to roll with the youth on this one. Kid is much better on his feet than White anyhow. Ford looks pretty good too!

Can't run the risk of losing him in the portal IMO. I mean, the split time thing can work for a bit as well, but I really think he gives us our best shot.
Who, Barbosa? I think he’ll be the starter moving forward. He’s the first guy in a long while to give us any hope at that weight class.

i know he was wrestling another true frosh, but he seemed so calm while he was wrestling

I dont care what sport it is, this is not normal for a kid that young...Harer is the same way... suggests to me both of these kids could end up being very very good.

Agreed. You don't burn his red shirt for one match and to have him not wrestle most of the time moving forward.

I definitely agree. Harer and Barbosa are the next generation of hammers in this program.Im pumped about SCW. I see him becoming a real threat deep in the NCAA tournament. I can see him at least getting to the quarters and hammering his way through the wrestlebacks to AA.I can see the same with Clark, too. They just have to stay composed and get moving a little offense defense.SCW with his defense and Clark with his offense

Yup. From what got reported, he beat White 9-3 and 12-2 in the room. White has looked better this year but didn't meet expectations from his frosh year. If Barbosa's red shirt is burned, definitely have to use him.

Big fan of SCW body language throughout the match. First off, the kid has a motor. Love how he runs back to the center each time. Also, he seems to come up with the leg a lot after being on his belly.

Just a little shocking given where I thought Soldano would be. There's still a place for him, but he's got to work for it now, whether that's cutting weight or bumping up. I think he'd make a great to 74 lber. That weight fits his frame much better.

At the beginning of the season, Goodale did recognize SCW's potential. He has exceeded my expectations and shows great effort and enthusiasm I would have said his defense is very good. His legs are attacked too easily, but he fights it off very well. Clark never should have been up two classes at 165 his first year, but may have benefitted from it now that he's at his proper weight.

Soldano is a wasted opportunity. Poz, long my favorite guy, should be wrestling with SCW enthusiasm. If he's small, as some think, he should also be faster than his opponents. I've thought he had more upside, but he hasn't shown that, and the move to 197 may be partly to blame. He has the potential, but I wonder about his drive.

I hate to expose my privileged attitude in asking about Brandon Torranzo, but have neither seen nor heard anything about him.

Pretty sure he can’t redshirt now that he has wrestled attached in 2nd semester

Barbosa can still redshirt. True freshman have 5 dates to compete. They must wrestle attached in the first semester. I would have to check but that was either Barbosa's last date or he has one more left.

They interviewed Goodale before 165 yesterday and he didn’t talk about redshirts but the way he made it sound, I think Barbosa will be the guy moving forward.

Brandon was hurt for awhile. Regarding the answer on Poz coming back, what happens this year will have no bearing on his decision to return. That decision hinges on does he want to put his body through that torture again.
