Your favorite choice of PIZZA

Sausage peppers and onions
This. Lately, I have been enjoying Margherita slices and it has been my recent go to choice.

Hah, me too! If you find a place with GOOD meatballs it's hard not to like your pie that way. I'm also very picky with the type of sausage as well. Hate the thin slices. Love the chunks. I know, weird, but not as weird as the 2 pictures in the OP's post!

I agree with you sausage comment. It’s better when there are crumbled pieces of sausage on it.

plain. No extra cheese, just a plain thin slice. I will also eat a meat lovers, a buffalo chicken or even a vodka sauce pie, but I realize this is not pizza.

Large pie with sausage and garlic. That was my favorite when growing up in NJ. The first time I asked a local CA place to make one they said to go to the bakery section at the Vons next door.

When in Europe it is not possible to find American-style sausage so I go with Parma ham and garlic. Ask for sausage or pepperoni in Germany or Austria and you will likely get some meat that looks like a diced up hot dog.

I like the thin crust too. The real thin, like wafer. Slightly burnt on the bottom fresh garlic slices. Every once in a while, anchovies

Otherwise, plain pie. Cheese with a slight burn and I want the cheese stretching off the slice as I bite into it.
Getting hard to find pizzerias using good cheese anymore

I come in peace...Nothing beats Jersey pizza...but the best is Tomato PIE...Brothers Pizza on Route 33 in Hamilton...

To be fair to Utah, they've recently relaxed some of their alcohol regulations (largely thanks to Wasatch pushing those boundaries), and a legitimate beer scene is starting to emerge. Still, it's got a long way to go to become Portland, OR.

By contrast, there hasn't been a sudden mass migration of Italian Americans to Alaska to help shore up their deficits. They're so starved for pizza that it's like a dying man in the desert seeing a mirage of water.... AlaskaDawg actually sees pizza in the pictures he's posted.

Most of the Italian food and pizza we eat is prepared by Mexicans, but yeah, I get your point.

Thin crust with Jalapenos! I do like a fresh garlic pizza too, but that is a far second.

I understand Dawg. When I lived in the Middle of Nowhere, Missouri 45 years ago Pizza Hut was considered the height of Italian Pies.

I get (and like) where Choppin was going, but Utah actually has a lot of good microbreweries and beers and even a couple of good distilleries. Its homegrown microbrew scene can probably rival NJ's and is definitely better than Alaska's (:D).

Now, you can't get many of those beers on tap, might be mandated into eating a meal when all you want to do is grab a beer, and will have to pay by the bottle for warm ones at the state liquor store, but the beers themselves are good : ) And you can buy low points in the grocery store or even the drive-through at the gas station, unlike in NJ and other points east.

Oh, and if you're looking for a shot to go with your Polygamy Porter, try

We have pizza on the west coast. If you want a pie then order pecan, cream, cherry, or apple.

going back to that- just wtf do you call a pie vs a slice? do you ask for a "whole" pizza?

and are you telling me that when you are with your buddies and someone suggests a pie and a few beers, you guys go to a cherry and brew or something? lol

People on the west coast that call a pizza a 'pie' are usually detained by the authorities for being a possible commie subversive.

Pizza is a pizza .. slice of pizza is just that .. a slice of pizza. We go out for pizza and beer or coffee and pie... as in pecan, apple, cherry, cream, etc...

Be careful with your trolling, you will regret it if you ever show your face here.

Your favorite topping will be crow. I promise.

Utah has definitely gotten better than it was in terms of beer availability.

Brew pubs were straight up illegal until 1989, when Wasatch successfully lobbied to change the law. In 2009 the "private club" system finally was gotten rid of, too, which opened things up some more... though they still have pretty tight control over the number of allowable liquor licenses for bars/restaurants, and the 4.0 abv limit on beer sold on tap.

As far as it's "homegrown microbrew" scene - they're definitely putting out some good beers (though if you want them on tap, you often have to go out of state).

As far as the overall beer scene, though... if you're hanging out in Provo, it's not like you can walk into a place like Standard Tap in Philly or Stout in NYC (or even somewhere like World of Beer in New Brunswick, or Nik's Wunderbar in Whitehouse Station). I understand Salt Lake City has a few spots to belly up to the bar (like the Beerhive Pub), but the rest of the state is pretty much a wasteland. NJ might not have a ton of great craft brews of its own (though it does have its share), but there are plenty of places that pour excellent craft brews from other states/countries and plenty of liquor stores with multiple aisles of different beers to try.
