Basketball New name emerges for WBB head coach job

According to a source, current SMU head coach Toyelle Wilson is a name that gaining steam in the hunt for a new women's basketball coach.

Wilson is a Voorhees, NJ native who played her college ball at Manhattan College from 2000-03 before joining the coaching ranks immediately following her career. She spent time as an assistant coach at various locations including Robert Morris, Prairie View A&M, Michigan and Baylor (where she won the 2019 NCAA Tournament).

She was also the head coach of Prairie View A&M, where she led the program to three straight NCAA Tournaments and is currently the head coach of SMU, where her team made the NIT Tournament in her first year with the Mustangs.

**Another interesting connection here is one of Wilson's asst. coaches down at SMU, Danielle Edwards is currently dating former Rutgers WBB / current WNBA All-Star Erica Wheeler**
