Nice win for a “gutted” program

Can’t look at the starting lineup in a vacuum. UCLA came out pressing and caused a couple turnovers early, getting off to a 7-0 lead, from which we mostly recovered with our starters. Then the subs came in — JWill, JMike, Ogbole — with high energy and intensity, and it was game on.

We might not get that same energy if those 3 guys start. So, I give Pike credit for pushing the right buttons and getting good production from both the starters and the bench in the game as a whole.

OT: Update on SoCal Weather

I had a hell of a time getting homeowners and fire insurance when I moved here in 2023. I have a Fair plan, not very reassuring. I pay less than I did in LBI for flood insurance on a street that hasn’t ever flooded.
I would be very nervous about being insured by the FAIR plan. That will almost certainly be insolvent as a result of these fires, though we’ll see how much it gets bailed out.

You can always come back to West Amwell!

UCLA- Myles Johnson is "Our Guy"--Foul Assessed on Myles?

Loved Myles from day one, probably due to how good of a student I knew he was from the get-go, as a good friend of mine who I was in grad school with at RU (chem eng'g) was a prof/administrator in the dean's office in the eng'g school when Myles made his campus visit before coming to RU. She was his primary tour guide and became his academic mentor, since they hit it off well (they both spoke Japanese which probably helped) and she was a huge fan of his on and off the court as he was a great student/leader. He may not have reached his full potential as a hoops player at RU, but he made some strong contributions to some of our best Pike teams. And hard to fault him for heading back home to UCLA for grad school after doing so well at RU. Seems like he's doing quite well with a bright future, as per his LinkedIn bio.
Who's that guy at the 1:08 and 1:20 mark? 😉
