OT: WWII September 1, 1939, 85 Years Ago Today - The Invasion of Poland

The Hitler/Nazi “stuff” is historical fact. Stop blaming “the media” for the world’s ills. It is exactly what ascendant dictators do. The first groups of people the Nazi’s went after were the political opposition , Communists and Socialists (who the Fascists hate) and journalists. Read some history books. Start with Shirer’s “Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”. Yeah, citizens of the US should feel bad for Putin and support Russia’s “defensive” war against Ukraine. Talk about being in the land of Oz. The exact same arguments and posturing were used by the Nazi’s in the late 1930’s.
I have to laugh at Putin and co. bombing the shit out of the cities of another country that his forces invaded and then crying like babies when that other country starts to fire back at Putin's cities.

The Hitler/Nazi stuff is a device the media and blob use.
Putin is also portrayed as a communist dictator like Stalin but he's not a communist or like Stalin.
Even Obama crew weren't taking Crimea annexation as "an invasion" of great weight.
Empires are recognized as destructive burdens (USSR was a victim).
Putin isn't interested in new USSR as media suggests - he wanted Ukraine neutral as US/NATO promised after the fall.
US/NATO are the provocateurs and Russia was not going to let NATO/Nukes in Ukraine.
Imagine US breaking-up and losing CA with Russia and China and Iran trying to take over.

"Former President Obama on Thursday defended his response to Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea, saying that circumstances were different then compared to Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine last year.

“Ukraine of that time was not the Ukraine that we’re talking about today,” Obama said in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “There’s a reason there was not an armed invasion of Crimea, because Crimea was full of a lot of Russian speakers, and there was some sympathy to the views that Russia was representing.”

Russia illegally held an election and annexed the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine in 2014. In response, the U.S. and European allies led a sanctions campaign which fell far short of its goals in weakening Russia and preventing further action in Ukraine."

2021 Just Before War - this was the provocation following 2014 Maiden meddling by US

OT: Brutal loss by St John’s to #13 Baylor

Talk about Karma. St. John’s was screwed by the refs the last few minutes of regulation but the ultimate screw job on the 3. The clock was at 4.1 when Ekifor went to the line. I said watching it live that no way that sequence only took under 4.1 seconds. Then they showed the replay. After the second missed free throw the clock doesn’t start for at least 1 second if not more . They replayed highlight everywhere and sure enough a clock malfunction that not one coach or commentator mentioned .
Clock issue in Big East against Rutgers comes back like karma to bite them in the ass.
All good cept it wasn't a clock issue..it was a ref issue.

THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-KENNESAW STATE PREDICTION THREAD

The thing is, we don’t really know how good KSU is. They average 91 ppg, and they shoot 38.4% from 3-pt range on high volume, but they’ve played nobody:

- Toccoa Falls
- Cal Baptist
- Bryan College
- Presbyterian
- Abilene Christian

Not that our four games have been against a Murderer’s Row, but their five games have been against very low level competition.

With that said, they sure can score, and I think they’ll score on us since our perimeter defense is very suspect right now. Bombs away.

I’ve been worried about this game since it was scheduled, as playing a true road game in one of these small “bandbox” type venues is scary. PTSD from our loss to Fordham early in Pike’s tenure. But I think we can score too and will overcome. And KSU’s defense is bad (275th in KenPom).

Rutgers 89
KSU 78

The Truth about this team

Right now YES. If we had only one of those 2, NO.

The winner of a basketball game is the team that gives up the fewest points.

Given this team.....I don't think the hit on offense missing one of those 2 is greater than the impact Myles had on the defensive end.

Lose Harper and I go to war with JWill as my PG and I have a heavy diet of Ace
Lose Ace and I go to war with Hayes and Martini taking minutes and I have a heavy diet of Harper
I loved Myles - except his foul shooting - but I believe we’re much better with both than trading one for a Myles like guy. We won the last game because they both turned it on at the end. Pure talent won that game and will win others for us. And the joy of watching jaw dropping plays by Ace and Dylan is a once in a lifetime thing. Poetry over prose. And we are 4 - 0.

Oh, and the winner of the game is the one that scores the most points.

OT: Overnight euro showing snow for this Friday evening

Hopefully this isn't a prelude to a long, cold, gray and snowy winter!!
Most winter predictions I've seen (including NOAA's) are for a warmer than normal winter with normal precip levels, implying less snow than normal, although the 2000-2020 period which was the 2nd snowiest 20-year period in recorded history, featured generally well above normal temps, so it's quite possible to have warmth and snow, as long as the timing of precip and cold is aligned. Anyway, while I'd love to see a snowy, cold winter, I put little stock in winter predictions, as I haven't seen winter predictions that are anywhere near as accurate as tropical season activity predictions.

The Truth about this team

These analytics look VERY good for Myles Johnson over the years
Myles was great, three things I would note:
-Pike clearly favored Cliff, possibly due to commitments made during recruiting, and I didn’t think Cliff deserved to be playing ahead of Myles.
-Pike stopped playing Myles in the high post, where he flashed some impressive passing skills for a big man, never understood that decision.
-Myles never learned to set his feet when he set a pick on the perimeter, he was good for a couple moving pick fouls a game.
