Pony up or Shut Up

Next month starts Free Agency, or the transfer portal, or whatever you want to call it, and Pike needs all the resources he can get. We need impact players, not schlubs who take up space. Impact players cost 💲, which we don’t have enough of. Maryland fans ponied up and the majority of their scoring is from transfers.

Maryland Transfers Point totals From Rutgers Game
Rodney Rice- transfer from VT - 19 pts
Selton Miguel - transfer from South Florida - 17 pts
Ja’ Kobi Gillespie - transfer from Belmont - 14 pts

Our transfers are not contributing enough because we chose from the bargain bin. They are too inconsistent. The performance on Court is a reflection of our support or lack thereof and We are reaping what we sowed.

I knew we were F’d as soon as we lost Cliff. Only to watch him languish on the bench. This year, we must hold on to Somerville, and add the appropriate complementary players. Get the right players and we can get back to the tournament next year.
you are delusional as always. The schtik is old!

OT: Minor Snowfall for Most (except moderate N of 80 towards 84 w/some icing) Sat (2/15) pm, Followed by Heavy Rain for Everyone

If the snow is mixed in with the rain Saturday afternoon there is zero chance of anything sticking on anything. Temps aren't going below 35 degrees in Philly or Trenton.
Agreed, I'd be very surprised to see much if any accumulating snow south of 276/195 and even north of there to about 78, borderline temps without heavy rates during daylight will make snow accumulation difficult, except on colder surfaces.

Can't make this stuff up lol.

Experiencing the bench up close

Captains
-> one laughed and joked around and even sat by himself during timeouts (one time due to being hurt)
-> one barely said a word to anyone on the bench and sat quietly in between people

I’ll give Pike credit he goes up and down the bench trying to get people fired up and keep them engaged.
You can guess above which people in referring to

More of a reason for this season

Got to analyzing and I want all your opinions on these two choices. Granted there are many other choices but I used to think it was all A, but the more I think about it B plays a big part. What is more of a reason for this massively disappointing season:

A) the lack of talent brought in
Or
B) the lack of accountability, discipline and structure/schemes in the environment around the players

I used to think almost 100% A. But with time to think I’m more of a 60/40, 55/45 A.

What do you all think analytically? Thanks.

Fran McCaffrey Getting Emotional in Post Game Interview

the biggest issue was the criminal extension and money give out by Hobbs

apparently Fran does not have much time left on his contract

Fran McCaffery, the head men's basketball coach at the University of Iowa, signed a four-year contract extension in March 2021. The extension runs through the 2027-2028 season.

Contract details
  • McCaffery's base salary for the next two seasons is $2.3 million.

  • His salary will increase each year for the last five years of the contract.

  • He is also eligible for longevity bonuses.

  • If the season is significantly shortened due to a pandemic, his base salary will be reduced by 10%.

  • He will receive bonuses for conference and national achievements.

  • His salary percentage increase is based on the team's highest finish at the conference or national level.
Buyout

  • If Iowa were to terminate McCaffery's contract, his buyout would be around $4.2 million.
  • Iowa could pay the buyout over three years, which would cost the university about $1.4 million per year.
