“Hey coach, if that’s so hard to defend, why don’t we do that too?”

Don't you think Pike recognizes all this ? He knows the game better than anyone here. He's been playing and coaching for 55+ years.
Again, we don't do it because these players can't. They are poor passers and even less talented at receiving and finishing. They can't bounce pass. They can't pass high. Half have bad hands.. That's not what our ballhandlers are remotely good at. Our iso offense gives us the best chance to win due to the players' strengths. I remember recently Derkack tried to pass to a cutting player and it was 5 feet behind him. Did you see Grant pass right to an Iowa player ? Sommerville would pass out from exhaustion if he moved for 5 consecutive seconds.
James Naismith would vomit and then roll over in his grave if Davis attempted to pass to Derkack for a shot. Motion offense with this team would be hideous, worse than what you see now by far.
Pike made his bed with the skills set of our roster, and he's forced to sleep on it. Blame him for the unskilled team, but not for the iso offense. It's the best for our roster.
Analogy: swim team coach has a freestyle swimmer compete in butterfly. same result if Pike has these players run motion offense. they can't.
