Where are you getting more attempts per 100 for Ogbole? Ogbole is never creating his own shot, it’s only ever put backs and dump offs, I’d be shocked if he didn’t have a higher efg% than Lathan. You see no reason to be excited about a freshman big who’s averaging 7 points per game and shooting +80% from the free throw line? I do. Yes he needs to improve on defense. With the way we’ve seen big men progress in this program I’d take a guy with a high floor on offense and work to do in defense versus the alternative.
Also 14 games into Dylan Grant’s college career were labeling him a black hole as a shooter?
I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make about Dylan and Ace or how either of them relate to things I could look forward to beyond this year, which was what my post was about.
His floor on offense is currently low not high. He’s under 50% from the floor as a big. That’s bad. You generally want your big to only be scoring on putbacks and dump offs. That’s efficient offense from players who, outside the top 5/6 bigs in the world, don’t score efficiently other ways (hence Lathan under 50% from the the field).
Raw totals don’t mean much. Efficiency is importantl and the ability to get volume of those efficient opportunities.
I’m not “labeling” grant. That’s what he has been as a shooter. Why so sensitive that he has been very bad so far in that department? Can he get better? I hope so! But just like you’re doing with Lathan and what people did with most of our portal guys this season, it seems like it’s being penciled in.
As far as Dylan and Ace, you mentioned Lathan and Grant were the one bright spot this season. Seems crazy to me given how good Ace and Dylan have been.
