I’m glad Ace and Dylan helped settle the debate on who should win the B1G freshman of the year debate.
Grant is the only one with a solid future. Dortch is at best a defense only player. He can be disruptive but his lack of offensive game won't get him many minutes. Sommerville is a tweener who can score some but not much else.Shack, are you impressed with any of the 3 freshman on defense? Are they building blocks on defense?
You are not wrong, but is it going to happen?
The entire team doesn't play defense...lol...yet you're blaming Ace & Dylan. On defense the biggest problem has been the lack of an above the rim big but lets ignore that as well. What did Pike do with 30 seconds left in the 1st half with Oregon having possession. He took Ace and Dylan out.
Ace and Dylan are killing us on D and more importantly they are killing morale.
At its core this is a coach problem. This is a defensive problem
I saw the freshman wall in my household. This is exactly what it looked like. Right around the same time of the year...different sport. The wall should get broken throughHit the wall at 22 games? IDK, this is the time most real good freshman are starting to pick it up, have adjusted to the speed and length of defenders, ect. He played 10 more HS games last year, granted not the same thing. I'd say tired could be a factor, but it's built in with a lack of desire/interest, maybe injury as well. I'm sure it's more than one thing.
well unfortunately he’s bothBlame Pike the GM not the coach.
Go back to what I was telling everyone preseason. I didn't even think back then Harper's tank would be where it is now.Poor coaching and player evaluation. When you use JWil as a primary distributor enough said. Pike built this team and he is responsible for results.

Do any of your ex's live in Texas? 😁Went to the Cutting Room in Manhattan to see the John Corbett Band. My wife (ex#2 again) was a big fan of Sex and the City and Corbett was in it along with the Cutting Room's co-owner Chris Noth. After the show everyone was hanging out at the bar. Noth was putting a move on my wife. Didn't bother me since I had been introduced to Corbett's girl friend........Bo Derek.
She was very gracious and posed for a picture with me.
My hope it is the wall and they will get through it. 2 minutes in to the 2nd half Ace was already winded. Harper gets Bittle switched on him and he settles for a step back 3.Ace and Dylan are done for the year, packed it in. Pike should leave them on the bench the rest of the season. REALLY thought they were both red-blooded competitors.
I mean, you of most here, should known what was coming on a team expected to be led by freshman. No veteran leadership - I was killed all offseason saying JWill showed me no leadership qualities last year. No emphasis on the defensive end of the court in team building. The fanbase would like to go 500 and qualify for the conference tournament with two top 5 lottery picks.
The hype from experts warranted those expectations.
When you have to defend your best players with talk of high ceilings and potential you know you’re having an awful season
Keeping Grant is far more critical. Sommerville is a tweener that can't play defense, above the rim or rebound well. Grant is a rebounding power forward with a developing offensive game. You pair Grant with an above the rim big and you have a pretty potent duo on the boards. If we can keep Sommerville and grant and bring in a true power conference point guard we MAY have hope. That is the only scenario where next year isn’t a dumpster fire because we’ve already proven we can’t expect to hit on multiple portal players
I'd breakup the lefties. As they're going with the 6 man rotation I think Peterson is safe.
1. Senga
2. Manaea
3. Peterson
4. Montas
5. Holmes
6. Blackburn/Canning/Megill
Losers of #6 go to pen as long man in that Trevor Williams role. The other I'm not so sure. If it's Megill he might be better in a setup role.
I'm also not sure if Blackburn will be fully healthy to begin the season unless I missed something on that.
Who would have ever expected freshman to be inconsistent? A great mystery this is.seen it time & time again this yr when AB is on hes hitting them from the 300 section with every one in the RAC guarding him but when he is off nothing is going down. Way way too in consistent. Give me 7-14 or 8-16 every game rather than 13-16 1 game and 4-18 the next
Lol...I suspect this is precisely what will happen too!Pike is scrambling to get out of this season without looking any more foolish than he already does. Announcers are already mentioning lack of effort, not taking warm-ups seriously, and importance of winning for Ace and Harper. I’m sure he wishes the season was over and maybe something magical might still click with this team in the meantime. Since we all know that won’t happen, his best scenario is to win a couple more games without calling any negative publicity to the program. Not playing two lottery picks when the season is over just makes him look even worse. In a few months, when the dust has settled, he can quickly grab some leftover mid major players, throw some bullshit out there that Carino will eat up, and he’s bought himself another year.
