JMike

After the last four games he's played, 11 minutes is ridiculous.
He had the perfect matchup too last night that #2 small like him and he was the only one who could stay with him; this all goes with our lineups/rotations they just suck; why are you automatically taking out Grant 3 minutes into each half and burying him on the bench he was the only one rebounding

NBA Basketball is in Bad Shape when these Two are Top 3 and n the World

I am not so certain Dylan is going to be taken in the Top 3 any more.

Posted yesterday by the top draft insider in all of basketball. Ace and Dylan are locked to be top 3 picks even if they sit out the rest of the games.

Dylan: "The 18-year-old's combination of size, shot-creation prowess, passing creativity, finishing skill and scoring instincts have drawn comparisons in NBA circles to a young James Harden"

Ace: "There's no ceiling on Bailey's long-term upside considering the development trajectory he is on, and a positive final month of the season could help him challenge Harper for the No. 2 pick. Every team in the NBA is searching for a big, explosive shooter and scorer with a competitive streak in Bailey's mold."

Pony up or Shut Up

Is he going to grow?
Is he going to get more athletic?

He is an old school 4 in a game where old school 4s rarely exist.
He has the best offensive ability in the center position, that we have had for years, including Cliff

Maybe, over time, he can get better defensively, remembering he is a true freshman

THE OFFICIAL 2024-2025 NET RANKINGS THREAD

Rutgers drops 5 spots to 74

Iowa up 7 to 60
Maybe Rutgers will be involved with an NCAA tourney run starting last night after all. We got Iowa a win, maybe Iowa goes on a historic run to try and get on the bubble triggered by a sleepwalking second half by their opponent. Just on principle alone, not metrics, Rutgers should have been dropped 10 spots in the NET for that performance.

Pike: “100 percent on me” for Iowa loss- two thoughts

McCaffery brings in players who excel in motion offense, good passers, etc. Same as Purdue. We recruit different abilities for a different system. We have mostly shot hunters, and when the shots fall all game we win. Our players are poor passers.

So, with the players we have we run what gives us the best chance.

Analogy: it's not a play-calling failure when a poor run blocking team doesn't run as much as teams with better OLs. The offensive system must match abilities. Pike's Xs and Os match the roster he built. So it's incorrect to criticize the iso and two man game.

Does anyone think we'd be better with JMike passing to a cutting Martini ? Or Ace to Acuff ? Or Sommerville either as the passer or cutter ? Holy mother of god we'd score under 20 ppg if we had our players try to do that. The offense we run best fits our abilities.

I'm not a fan of never calling traveling or a charge and nobody playing defense. I grew up in the days of the champion Knicks and the current NBA is unwatchable to me. And don't even talk to me about the all-star game. A total disgrace.
Ridiculous take from someone who clearly hasn't watched a game in years. Defense looks bad in the NBA becuase the players are so talented that it's almost impossible to defend some players. There was nothing close to the talent level of Giannis, Luka, Jokic, Curry or LeBron back in the "Champion Knicks" days of the 70s. Speaking of the Knicks it would be impossible to watch one of their games today and think they aren't giving complete effort on the court, that team plays much harder then anything I've seen from Rutgers this year.

OT: Jerome Drayton Dead at 80

There's a theory that excessive running is not good for longevity.I'll leave it here.
Interesting. I wonder what that theory is based on. A quick search yielded the Journal of American College of Cardiology and found one article stating "We still found significantly lower risks of mortality even in the highest quintiles of running time (≥176 min per week) and frequency (≥6 times per week) compared with nonrunners". And another in the National Library of Medicine: "Eleven case control studies on life expectancy in former athletes revealed consistently greater life expectancy in aerobic endurance athletes but inconsistent results for other athletes. "

The play has to compliment the crowd with crisp passing, rhythm plays and shot making. We don't have guards 1 to 4 that make shots and there's no one that can say in mid February, what the player rotation is, once the starters are announced.

The staff owns the majority of this, but I feel like we got killed with injuries and a lack of consistent play from seniors via the portal (JWill, Martini, Acuff and Hayes).....Derkack has been uneven for most of his 1st year and that's 5 upperclassman....asking 4 freshman and JMike to carry the load is tough.

Do I think RU can win the next 4 in a row, with 3 on the road?? Absolutely, but if the staff randomly decides JMike plays 29 minutes one game and 11 minutes the next one and PJ Hayes suddenly becomes the 1st guard off the bench vs Iowa, you're asking for problems as a staff and that impacts the fanbase.

Fans cheer when they know what to expect.....

Players play harder, when they know what to expect in terms of minutes and playing time.

Mishandling and poor roster development plans for Grant, Sommerville and Dortch, have RU in a hole, because the seniors are essentially, just not as consistent as the freshman are....
And why do you automatically take out Grant who is basically the only one rebounding 3 minutes into each half and then bury him on the bench is beyond me and as if everyone says Brandin Knight is responsible for the rotations than he has GOT to go but Pikell won't let him go due to his loyalty and that will just seal Pikells fate
