Not understanding your point. You said you didn’t go to the university. How are they supposed to find you as a donor? Write a big check and I guarantee you will get a call. Your story about your high school is not remotely close. It would be if it was a high school you didn’t go to. I’m not a big donor but give enough that I get letters from the deans to thank me for the donations.
Fair point on the differences, and you’re right.
I guess my point is that everyone I know that’s given to Rutgers, I’m not so sure they’ve felt as much love as you’d think.
As for them finding me, that’s their job, not mine. Get creative. I mean my email and contact info is 100% there for RU to track down, it’s not the 90s, it’s pretty damn easy for them if they put the slightest bit of effort into it.
Personally I think they need to adjust their thinking to be a heavy focus on the state of NJ rather than only going after RU grads.
There are A LOT of people in this region that went to schools that don’t have big time athletics. Bring those people into the fold, it’s crucial for the growth everyone is asking for.
You don’t think there’s a wealthy D3 grad somewhere in NJ that would love to get involved with RU athletics? They’re out there, the University just needs to work for it.
