Court of Last Appeals*

Starting a separate thread for this concept.

There should be a remote ref offsite who has the authority to function as a COURT OF LAST APPEALS* (PI) and can override missed calls, clock management / issues like this. Also, make it mandatory for refs to stay around when the game is settled by 3 points or less.

RU 66*
OSU 64

IMO this should be done immediately and known as the Rutgers Rule.

We were screwed by refs who terminated a game early vs St. Johns.

We were screwed by refs who didn't check the time (when the clock should have started), and the infamous out of bounds infractions vs OSU.

ENOUGH!

We've had the technology ....now we need the will. R U listening B1G / NCAA???

The endgame strategy was f**king stupid

Obviously that shot should not have counted.

But intentionally putting us on the line for a one in one with 5 seconds left instead of just defending the first time down was ****ing stupid. Absolutely retarded strategy. I have endlessly, tirelessly defended Pike against people complaining about various strategies but he absolutely cost us that game.

Is Schiano brining weekend recruits to the Seton Hall game?

Given the football recruits on campus this weekend, can we expect to see a contingent next to the student section or is the Sunday evening nature of the game too late in the weekend?

As an aside, Schiano has to be thrilled about the atmosphere he can bring recruits to in order to show how rabid of a fan base exists here if the program performs.

The last laugh: RU stays ahead of OSU in the NET Rankings (#25)

The good news out of the game, I guess since it was a great performance on the road against a top-25 team .. RU stays at #25 in the NET (no drop and we were #30 after IU game), while OSU jumps from #28 only to #26 after “upsetting” us. Still great to be top-25.

Iowa is #24, Indiana #8. Purdue is 3. And Seton Hall is #116
Also don’t look now but UMass Lowell is #37 at 8-1 and is about to be a Quad 1 win for us

Question on Reviewability

So I get that missed calls such as stepping out of bounds, traveling, fouls, etc. are not reviewable to reverse calls based on video replays. But the thing is - going out of bounds wasn’t what needed to be reviewed here. The missed call wasn’t directly about the guy stepping out. If Holden doesn’t touch the ball, there should be no whistle. The missed whistle at the buzzer was about the refs failing to recognize that an ineligible receiver accepted the ball and hit the game winner.

So here’s my question. Suppose that shot happened along side OSU’s bench not ours. Suppose a 6th player hopped off the bench in desperation - jumps in without checking into the game - receives the pass from Thorton and drains the shot. Refs don’t see the illegal player come off the bench real time until after the buzzer sounds. Is that not reviewable either?

Hummel blew it too

He was the analyst last night . I mean if you aren’t gonna point out what happened on the final play , what the hell are you there for ? He needs to make a statement on Twitter or somewhere. He was quiet for a long time after that shot. You can’t tell me he’s a budding star in this profession after last night. Robbie Hummel make a statement why you didn’t address this during the broadcast. IBilas and others had to bail you out.
Carino and fonseca need to get a statement from Hummel. It comes with the territory Robbie

FB Recruiting Rutgers set to host Transfer DB this weekend..

Just confirmed earlier tonight that Rutgers will also be hosting Northern Illinois defensive back transfer Eric Rogers on an official visit this weekend. As I mentioned in our Transfer Portal Big Board, Rogers is very close with fellow South Jersey native Chris Long as the two known each other for some time now. Along with Rutgers, Rogers also earned an offer from Arkansas and while it's still possible he visits there, it sounds like he is leaning towards heading back home to finish out his college football career. Stay tuned!

Here is @mb5789's write up on him via the portal thread....

Northern Illinois CB Eric Rogers is listed at 6-2, 185 lbs and went to Burlington Township HS in Burlington, NJ. He has 2 years of eligibility remaining. He entered the portal officially today (12/5).

Rogers redshirted in his first season at NIU and was a starter as a RS FR in 2021 out of training camp but missed the final 7 games of the season due to injury. In 2022 he started 10 games for the Huskies. The past two seasons he totalled 43 tackles, 1 TFL, 2 INTs and 7 pass breakups in 15 games.

Rogers has seen his PFF grades improve every season at NIU, but his grades are great. In 2021 he had a grade of 54.6 and in 2022 he had a grade of 66.3 (538th out of 943 qualifying CBs).

I couldn't find any college tape on him, but was able to find some track times from HS. He ran track only during his SR year of HS and he ran a PR of 11.18 in the 100 meters. He is close with former RU WR Everett Wormley, who also went to Burlington Township HS.

Richie wrote an article about him while he was in HS, he definitely liked RU as a HS recruit...
