Kickoffs and Punt returns???

I understand the logic on kickoffs and for the most part, you don’t much value in running them back. But on punt returns; at least to this point, it’s basically a fair catch or don’t touch the ball. Is that something that everyone feels will remain consistent, or do we have a wrinkle in special teams that could change, based on the opponent? I know theres risk in turning it over, but are we at a competitive disadvantage if we have the same conservative fair catch or let it settle, regardless of where the punt goes? Do we lack confidence in our returner?
