Eddie Jordan once lost a conference game 92-31

Full agree, Zap - EJ was a class act and a nice young man as a student-athlete at RU. I was in college at RU when he was there. I played pickup with him at the old auxiliary gym adjacent to the Barn a couple times - we were of course legions apart in ability but he generously passed me the ball...

    Jonathan Mitchell Interview

Solid point and it reminds me of one of the most commonly misused terms - - using "notoriety" to mean fame in a positive sense - in fact it means fame for a bad quality because it comes from the word "notorious".

    OT: Robert Clary dead

Great point about the irony of those actors. Not only were they Jewish but WK was German and JB was Austrian by birth but both luckily got out in time. Klemperer's cousin Victor Klemperer kept a very famous and often cited by scholars journal of the Nazi years which he only managed to survive...

    Cliff and the 3

I have nothing against Mag, but he has yet to demonstrate a single aspect of offense that he performs well even remotely consistently.

    Paul Mulcahy’s Shoulder

In the face of some whining I've heard on ESPNU how it's unfair to game commentators not to know the injury status of players until game time (ie, it makes their job harder) and to all others frustrated by GS and others who don't reveal injury status (and putting aside any HIPPAA issues), I...

OT: Springsteen Interview on Stern Show

Shelby - Agreed - it's is in no way excusable. My point was at what point does the punishment (in his case losing his livelihood) received, albeit not criminal, allow an individual to move forward, albeit in this case at a lesser status than he had. I don't know what the exact right answer is...

OT: Springsteen Interview on Stern Show

I agree that celebs and the powerful (esp pro-athletes whose revenue production for the powerful often acts as body armor) often get a pass - how many second chances did Steve Howe get re his cocaine issues and only recently has pro sports even acknowledged that domestic abuse is an issue. I...

OT: Springsteen Interview on Stern Show

The Kyrie Irving thing is a joke - absolutely should have been suspended. His "punishment" (making a donation relating to anti-bigotry in an amount that isn't even a rounding error to his net worth) reminds me of when the penance that Mel Gibson was asked to do after his multiple, blatant...

OT: Springsteen Interview on Stern Show

Great post, thanks. Though I wouldn't say that Lindbergh was from NJ (His wife was). And his pre-WWII affinity for AH make me happy he's wasn't a real Jersey guy.

Props to Gov. Murphy for Supporting RU Football

Murphy (not from NJ and no connection to RU) has been a great outspoken supporter of RU sports. More so than any Governor in the last 50 years and probably ever (the only governor in recent memory with an RU degree was Florio who I believe went to Camden law). Thank you Gov. Murphy.

    Boise State Gets It

Our primary problem is personnel quality, esp at QB. Until that is addressed it is difficult to accurately assess the quality of our coaching staff (although Cuse seems to be doing well without a bevy of 4 and 5 star players).

    Wake Up Call

This is not about our having a horrific passing game against lowly Temple. It's that we don't improve in this area game after game and year after year. The fact that we look at when Noah V averaged 150 yards or so a game as our best examples in recent years says it all. And to top it off, I...

Football Iowa favored by 6pts | O/U set at 35.5pts

Wow - the 6 points seems low in light of the different performances by the respective teams this past weekend as well as the quality (based on results to date) and quantity issues for RU at the QB position. I can't imagine the points won't head north shortly.

    Rutgers Passing Game

Agree re Wimsatt - but getting Wimsatt is the exception. We rarely get highly recruited quarterbacks and most of those years where we don’t we only are able to recruit a single quarterback.

    Rutgers Passing Game

The reality is that we do not have on this roster a quarterback who has even remotely demonstrated the ability to perform in an FBS game, let alone a power five game, let alone a big 10 game. And apparently Gleeson recognizes this and that’s why there were so few downfield passes that our QBs...

Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Rutgers vs. Temple

If you wonder why we almost never recruit highly prized QB's, watching this game and seeing how poorly we develop and use QBs answers the question.

Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Rutgers vs. Temple

51 yards of total offense vs Temple with 3:57 remaining in the first half vs Temple team that only beat Lafayette by 13 and Lafayette lost to Sacred Heart the prior week 6--0. Can't win in P5 (or otherwise) without a quality qb.

Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Rutgers vs. Temple

Why can they complete passes with an unrecruited true frosh (albeit he was injured in hs) and we rarely allow our QB's to throw and when they do nothing good happens.
