SEC will consider Notre Dame, BYU and Army as Power Five opponents

So SEC have lowest p5 overall by significant number. Boston College only school to have 8 p5 matchups.

BC out of conference:
@ UMass
Vs Wagner
Vs Buffalo
Vs UConn

So maybe they considered UConn a p5 equivalent when scheduling.

The SEC & ACC work the system like no other. 14 member conferences that do everything in their power to avoid playing their own conference members so they can get more of their teams bowl eligible.

With the emphasis to get more P5 games you are going to inherently reduce the number of bowl eligible teams. It is simple math. 2 teams can't win the same game.

Hence the reason the SEC voted 13 - 1 to keep that 14 member conference at an 8 game conference schedule. The SEC doesn't beat up on each other seeing how they don't play each other.

Why would they do that? Actually, it's strange they would even play UConn since they are the reason the Huskies are not in the ACC.

But will those who vote in the polls take this into consideration?
Of course not. The SEC is so tough all their teams deserve top ten consideration no matter the record.

The Greenback! Probably travel cost considerations. Gotta be cheap as hell to go from Chestnut Hill to E. Hartford.

I'd be interested to see the AAC teams on the list. There is little difference between the AAC and the bottom half of the P5. I give a team more credit for playing Temple, Houston, Cincy, Navy....even USF and UCF (at least some years).... than most G5 or FCS games.

Can understand maybe counting ND, but BYU is not a P5 school.... yet.

It isn't a P5 team at all but a conference may choose to count an OOC game against it (or Army) as a P5 game. It provides a way to wiggle out of the conference requirement (where there is one) that each team schedule a P5 OOC game.

(I could be wrong) Only the ACC considers BYU a P5 school. Interestingly, they are the only P5 conference not playing them this season. That wouldn't change the math that much.

SEC 9.000
ACC 9.428
B1G 9.857
B12 9.900
P12 10.000

Dawg, will you still be with us in November?
Not sure. I'm hoping to fly back to work within the next few months if the price of oil holds to $50+ a barrel. I don't get much internet time when I'm at work... I work 7 / 12's up on the Alaska North Slope three weeks at a time and then I fly home for two weeks. Right now it's deadsville up here with the price of oil tanking.
