I don't think an event like this is in the cards for 2019, but there's some interest (after the RU crowds generated at MSG in the B1G), for a high profile non conference team playing in our area.
The key isn't as much how successful the actual local program that plays in the event is...it's strictly a play or bet on how many tickets would be sold if it was a weeknight event vs it being a Saturday event.
An example we have seen has been Duke playing a game in the NYC/NJ area, whether it's the Meadowlands or MSG vs an another team that can generate some ticket sales and a decent matchup. If RU can show more fan attendance at home games and perhaps show up at area road games like Seton Hall with strong sales, then i think in 2020, you'll see a game like that.
There had been discussions that RU had options for last summer (2017) for a game in 2018, but i don't believe it made sense for the venue promoters to feel like enough sales would occur and whether Hobbs and or Pike believe playing a game like that this year, made sense.
That was also under the assumption that the talks of going from 18 to 20 B1G games was all but done and not yet announced. Having 20 B1G games plus ACC/B1G and Seton Hall, Gavitt Game vs a Big East school ( St. John's) may not make as much sense for some programs in a rebuild.
