Hopefully we ll be in a sanctioned tournament in 2019 such as Charleston Classic or something similar. My guess is we will given we should have a competitive squad and that it's been several years. Only impediment is that we have 24 games already scheduled for next year with 20 conference games and games vs umass, seton hall, Fordham and an ACC squad. Thoughts?

Probably not, those fields get set pretty well ahead of time which means invites go out even earlier.

Would have been a great question to call into Pikiell tonight

^^^This.

I have already seen one announcement of teams playing in 2019 events.

Arizona, Providence, Wake Forest, UCF, Charleston, Penn, Long Beach State, and Pepperdine will play in the 2019 Wooden Legacy.

I don't think an event like this is in the cards for 2019, but there's some interest (after the RU crowds generated at MSG in the B1G), for a high profile non conference team playing in our area.

The key isn't as much how successful the actual local program that plays in the event is...it's strictly a play or bet on how many tickets would be sold if it was a weeknight event vs it being a Saturday event.

An example we have seen has been Duke playing a game in the NYC/NJ area, whether it's the Meadowlands or MSG vs an another team that can generate some ticket sales and a decent matchup. If RU can show more fan attendance at home games and perhaps show up at area road games like Seton Hall with strong sales, then i think in 2020, you'll see a game like that.

There had been discussions that RU had options for last summer (2017) for a game in 2018, but i don't believe it made sense for the venue promoters to feel like enough sales would occur and whether Hobbs and or Pike believe playing a game like that this year, made sense.

That was also under the assumption that the talks of going from 18 to 20 B1G games was all but done and not yet announced. Having 20 B1G games plus ACC/B1G and Seton Hall, Gavitt Game vs a Big East school ( St. John's) may not make as much sense for some programs in a rebuild.

Another question I have is this. The last time I checked we have ten OOC games. I thought the NCAA allows a 31 game schedule. Why aren't we playing 11OOC games?

Yeah, this is the confusing part. Most of the country starts on Tuesday the 6th, I'm surprised we didn't schedule a game for that night.

An extra early easy game for such a young team would seem to make sense. More time to figure things out and gel before the stiffer competition. Adding another W to the schedule would be nice too. Interesting question as to why we didn't
