Some of these schools accepting bowl bids leaves me questioning why. Why would Miss. State and Tennessee with 3-7 records want to take more snaps. Haven't they had enough already? Miraculous improvements? Guess practice makes perfect.
Usually I try to watch as many Bowl games as possible. There's quite a few on this list, planning on skipping.

Has anyone seen/heard where Schiano said we would not accept a bowl bid? Link?

Forgot to mention South Carolina (2-8) and Arkansas (3-7). That makes 4 SEC teams playing in bowl games that are 3-7 or worse. Yet 9-2 Army is shut out. Sorry, that's just wrong.
Maybe the bowl tie in were contracts and there was no way to get out of the contracts? For example, there may have been benefits already received by certain bowls having an SEC tie in.
I agree with you that it is a bad look for Army to not be in a bowl. Some social media pressure on the lower SEC teams to bow out.

If we were healthy we're likely Army's opponent in the Independence Bowl...honestly thought South Carolina (at 2-8) should be replaced by Army in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Schiano should say, we’ll play Army in the Independence Bowl if it’s moved to around January 7th. Give the players chance to go home for the holidays, come back have a week of practice and go at it

...that's actually not a bad idea in theory but it would 'break the bubble' the team has likely been staying in.

In the post game presser Schiano made it clear that RU was done for the year. The players most likely opted not to play any further even if they received an invite. With no bye weeks and nine straight games their bodies are at the breaking point. If they had 2-3 weeks in between it would have been a different story.

You mean if the stupid conference leadership did not have its collective head up it’s own ass? 🤣

Army should be in somewhere!!!

They'll probably find something since they have decent ratings with a more national audience. Every year Army bowl options are limited since they are independent, and don't have the conference tie-ins most bowls require. Every year it seems the Armed Forces and Independence Bowls are all they can get invites too. But 2020 is such a mutant year I'm sure something will open. Probably still a risk of some team canceling though. Army V RU would be fun. Lots of Army fans have wanted Monken to get a shot at RU.

ScarletDave had an idea to make the Independence Bowl on January 8th or 9th (see above); it would have definitely made the option more appealing but for us to play a game on 12/26 after playing 9 straight B1G games without a bye and half our starting defense injured just doesn't make sense.

On ESPN it Looks like the Military Bowl hasn’t made their selections. Maybe Army grabs a slot?

Yes SEC contracts but in a typical year if SEC school doesn’t qualify the bowl would fill outside of the contracted conference. You’d think at least some of these 4 schools would have had enough losing already and do the right thing by going home, opening up a spot for more deserving schools.

Once the NCAA waived the record requirement this is exactly what was going to happen and you would have been okay with it if RU took a B1G slot at 3-6 over Army.

Nobody stole a spot from Army. Army accepted an invitation to The Independence Bowl back in October. After Saturday's games there was a massive opt out by many programs (like Rutgers) to pass on any post season play. So in the end The Independence Bowl had no opponent for Army and cancelled the Bowl. By then all bowls were filled. Most not knowing that Army was back in play.
Their best shot would be as a fill in to a team that has to back out of a bowl because of Covid.

I agree but these narratives that other teams should do the right thing and back out is comical.

Hooray! Should be a Barn Burner.
Check out Ellen if you prefer that.

It's funny that North Texas is the "home" team at 4-5 vs. 8-3 App State.

I might have to mute the broadcast. It's too distracting with the muffled, masked voices.

App State was ranked in the top 25 early in the year. They are a team that has come from nothing and built a massive fanbase. In Charlotte area and suburbs, you would think there’d be a strong Duke or UNC fandom, or even UNC Charlotte, but App State stickers/magnets dominate the roads. They will be the G5 team in the NY6 one of these years

If memory serves, they were on the verge last year but had a hiccup somewhere late.

Behind 638 yards of offense, 502 of which came on the ground, the Appalachian State Mountaineers beat the North Texas Mean Green 56-28 on Monday night in the Myrtle Beach Bowl at Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina.

Weird- score does not show up on ESPN's bowl scores.

How many 50+ yard runs did they have. Every time the it seems they ran it was
