OT: NCAA College Football Games Thread 10/17-10/19 Thurs-Sat

They did the right thing overturning that.
It’s the right call but I don’t think they can overturn it once it’s called unless it was a tipped ball or something to negate the PI

23-15 UGA ….now it’s becoming a reversal of their Alabama game haha

Plus it gives fans incentives to do such crap which they shouldn't

MSU TD to go up 32-20 on Iowa…2 mins left

UCF with a 2nd pick 6 against ISU…oh man he dropped it before he crossed the goal line

UCF lucks out because no one form ISU picked it up so they will keep possession at the 1…it’s like we get at least 1 of these a season lol

UCF scores on the next play…up 35-27

MSU picks up a nice win on Iowa 32-20
LSU beats Ark 34-10
KSU 45-18 on WVU
ISU FG closes to down 35-30
UGA up 30-15 on Texas

UCF looks like it’s closing in on a win at ISU…up 35-30 at 2 mins left. ISU has lost all their games when they’ve made the top 10 except against Northern Iowa.

ISU runs it on 2 consecutive qb runs to take the lead with 30 secs left

ISU gets the INT and they survive..7-0 and will stay in top 10

The officials can always get together to discuss and if necessary reverse a call. Penalty flags get picked up all the time.

But two things were different in this instance.

1) They had time to discuss the call at greater length because of the delay. The fans were rewarded for their terrible behavior. Bad precedent, as you point out.

2) During the delay, the play was being replayed continually on the stadium screens. Did the officials look? If so, did they violate the rules, because the PI call is not subject to video review?

Yea I get that flags are picked up but I can’t remember a PI being overturned after called unless a tip ball was missed and another ref saw it.

And certainly not after such a big delay, the official huddle happened only after the fan tantrum and cleanup. Very likely they were influenced by factors they’re not supposed to be influenced by rather than they came to some sudden epiphany together without that influence.

Nice stats IU. Think this week was a good test of just how capable their offense is. Next week against UW should be a good test of how capable their defense is, although Maryland was probably an okay test too.

From an Athletic article:

To put this win in context, consider the day opened with Nebraska owning just one loss, and it took place in overtime. The Huskers ranked No. 13 nationally in total defense and were only two spots out of the AP Top 25. Yet Indiana — much maligned for its schedule — beat Nebraska like a sparring partner.

For the sixth straight game, the Hoosiers surpassed 40 points. If the game lasted another quarter, they might have scored 70 for the second time this year. Nebraska gave up eight touchdowns in its first six games, and the Hoosiers scored eight touchdowns on 12 possessions. The Huskers were the only team nationally not to give up a rushing touchdown this year. On Saturday, Indiana rushed for five.

It didn’t matter who was playing quarterback for the Hoosiers. Starter Kurtis Rourke played the first half, completing 17 of 21 passes for 189 yards before a torn thumbnail on his right hand sidelined him after halftime. So backup Tayven Jackson stepped in and completed all but one of his eight passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns in the second half. Indiana scored touchdowns on all seven red zone possessions.

Big loss for IU, we'll see if Jackson can take the reins like the 2nd half yesterday.

“I have never seen that before,” Fox rules analyst Dean Blandino told The Athletic. “A flag has never been picked up before after that long of a delay. It does seem like replay got involved either from the stadium or the SEC command center. Purely speculation, but it is hard not to come to that conclusion.”

Smart addressed the incident, saying, “I will say that now you’ve set a precedent that if you throw a bunch of stuff on the field and endanger athletes, that you got a chance to get your call reversed. And that’s unfortunate because, to me, that’s dangerous.”

It was often labeled as “scared” or “little brother syndrome” but uterus ran the SWC, ran the B12 and now horns down, like in the B12, an “unsportsmanlike” penalty…first ever team specific penalty in the SEC
