24 Hour B1G Build Donate-A-Thon on Twitter

Jeff Towers is launching a B1G Build 24 Hour Donate-A-Thon, where he and his wife will 100% match any contributions up to $100k. Anyone who hasn't donated to the fund, now's the time.

The Garuttis also have agreed to match 100% up to $100k of any donations within the 24 hour donate-athon.

Is this aggregate $100K or if 5 people donate $100K, the Towers and the Garuttis will each match $500K?

I have another question or two. I usually donate all my extra donation to the B1G build fund when I buy my season football tickets.

1. If I donate now, I guess that will get figured into my total donation for priority points/parking, right?

2. How do the Garuttis and Towers know how much was donated and how much to match? We don't have to send them a tweet or anything, because I don't have Twitter and don't want to publicize my donation.

I would listen to Mrs. Screw. She is a fellow B1G Build Captain and is in a better position to answer any questions you might have Knight Shift. Don't want to mislead you or give you false info.

The Towers and Garutti's are matching all NEW donors to the BiG Build fund up to $200k.

So $200k can easily turn into $400k. If you haven't donated yet or know someone who hasn't this is a great time to get on board.

You can donate on my captains page https://rb1gbuildcaptains.com/campaigns/captain-jon-newman

Or another captains page or by contacting RFund directly tomorrow.

The Towers and Garutti's are great leaders, let's help them bridge the gap.

I'm not a new donor to B1G Build. I already donated once or twice. So my donation will not be matched. I will just wait until I renew my tickets.

do you have a spouse? put a new donation in their name. PP still goes to your account but it counts as a new donation.

I do. I looked at the Rfund Giving List document, and it lists both me and my wife, even though the ticket account is only in my name. So it does not seem that there will be a way around this to get the match?

got a kid? I know someone that did it that way. If your wife is already listed then no, she would not count as a new donor now.

Yeah, I got two, but then that will not help my priority points, unless you can direct me to something that says otherwise. The kids are minors.

Question I've been wondering for a while:

If someone is not a season ticket holder, can they make a donation on behalf of someone who is, so that person would then get the priority points? Is there any type of joint donation possibility to accomplish the same thing? Many schools in other conferences allow this but in the past Rutgers would not allow it and turn down money.

I don't think I have another option. I know before MrScrew and I were married I donated and told them to apply the donation to his account but that probably won't work for minors.

I'm pretty sure I did this before MrScrew and I were married. I called, made the donation and told them to apply it towards his account. (at least I think it was before we were married). You can give them a call tomorrow to double check.

Done. Outstanding for these big time donors to step up yet again, and thanks to all the not-so-big time donors like myself who manage to scrape together a few nickles here and there for the cause.

Upstream Red Team!

I have 10 new donors in the past 12 hours... so thank you all who donated!!

Jon Newman, who started this Build-Fund-a-Thon all has 25! but that is NOT enough to get to the $1M mark.

anyone who bellyaches on this board and does not donate, even $25, does not deserve to complain. We need to build it to be in it and, as we all know, it don't come cheap in NJ.

Just to confirm before I pitch friends, a 5 year pledge of $10 a month, would result in $600 from Towers, $600 from Garuttis, and allow Rutgers to access all $1,800 immediately right? I mean what a deal.

it's actually just a 1:1 match. there was a lot of confusion when this first happened. Rutgers has confirmed that the first $100,000 raised the Towers will match, the next $100, raised the Garutti's will match.

so your friend's $600 donation will be worth $1200 to Rutgers. Still a great deal.

as of right now, The Build Fund has raised $82,000 in less than 24 hours. that's $164,000 to Rutgers and there are still 6.5 hours to donate today for the match

For someone like myself, who maybe doesn't keep up with everything daily on this side of the athletic department...What was just approved for $115 million dollars? Is that facility all these donations are for?

Also, has there been any formal attempt to get the current NFL players actively involved in this?

The Build Fund is spelled out here: http://rutgersbigtenbuild.com/

as far as the NFL players. I know that there is someone within athletics that works directly trying to obtain donations from Letter winners. Without starting a heated argument here, there is a prevalent theory that the NFL players have not donated, at least not publicly. Since I have no shame when it comes to trying to solicit donations for the Fund, I can say that I have tweeted at every current player, and a few former players, asking for donations and have received no replies and no donations.

Is this definitely just for new donors? That's how it sounded from the twitter messages but I just got an e-mail from Rutgers athletics on this and it didn't mention being limited to new donors.
