3 maybe 4 wins MAX

I totally agree. Everyone raved about Coach Ash hiring his buddies, but when I pointed to cronyism, I was quickly called a Debbie Downer.

Funny how White Coaches are always allowed to learn on the job. Yet for some reason, they can't find a Black Guy that's capable of learning on the job. Funny how that works.

Coach Ash gets three years worth of checks, and we're supposed to simply accept whatever he comes up with.

seriously, I blame Hobbs.

not interviewing Schiano was an absolute Blunder.
Your timing was horrible. After Ash was hired, there is a mandatory honeymoon period. You criticized him during that period. That makes you a Debbie Downer. We're getting to the end of the honeymoon now.

Howard, New Mexico (toss-up), and possibly one from either Illinois or Indiana. The rest are not going to look good unless something changes from this week on.
Sorry NYC but I'm going to respectfully disagree with the assertion that the RU team that played on Saturday would beat Indiana or Illinois. Right now I see both games L. As a matter of fact I think they would have their hands full with New Mexico. I'm not looking to flame, I'm being serious. Again, I don't blame the kids, I blame the entire learn as we go coaching staff who sat on their hands for over 7.5 months not really preparing this team.

You could be right about the FB staff sitting on their hands for 7.5 months, or it might just take double that time to get a roster filled with players recruited for a pro set offense to get comfortable with a power spread one.
I would bet there are more than a few players on RU's roster that have skill sets that would do well in a pro set offense , but are not exactly great in a power spread or the offense Mehringer is trying to use that isn't a true power spread, like Ash plans to use , but a different version of that offense that was designed to help the players get used to playing the spread from the pro set one they were recruited to play.
I don't think we'll see the type of offense Rutgers plans to use under Ash until his third year as HC.
So this team is still learning on the job with some of the players having the type of talent that's more comfortable playing in a pro set offense compared to the O they are being asked to play now.
Heck we can add Ash is learning how to be a HC while having a OC new to the job too.
Hate to think or say it, but must say that this year is going to be everyone on the team ( coaches included) learning what it will take to make Rutgers a winner and have an offensive all are comfortable playing.

I expect to be 2-4 in a few weeks. Brutal three week stretch of Iowa, Ohio State then Michigan.
If we are 1-5 we are in serious trouble.
At 2-4 we still have a chance for a bowl as the level of the competition and the learning should make us much more competitive. No guaranteed wins but if you don't think we have a chance against Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota...etc...
you may as well pack it in until next year. How can you call yourself a fan and have no hope?

Man, have we not watched college FB enough to know that sometimes games just get out of hand and we should not use those games as a basis to judge teams?

It was one game. One the road, against a good team, with a good coach.

I'll take the wait and see approach when it comes to RU's final W-L record
I didn't see anything in Rutgers first game to make me feel optimistic about
how the Scarlet Knights will do this season and the second game should be considered
a practice testing out the fixes to what went wrong in the first game.
How RU looks against New Mexico when they come to Jersey will give me a strong
indication in what to expect.
But after the Hawkeyes come to Rutgers Stadium is when I'll decide if this season will probably be a disaster W-L wise or some hope should be there after seeing the way the Scarlet Knights played Iowa..

Don't expect a wining season based on the way Rutgers got blown out by Washington, but hopeing RU will show it's better than that and my hope will be rewarded by the way Rutgers plays New Mexico and Iowa.
Not going to consider Howard being able to make me cry
I just thought we would be done with blow outs .

More than most sports, coaching has an impact in college football

How about we let things settle in for a few games before all the hyperbole

The answer might still be 3 wins...but stating it emphatically now is almost as bad as stating 7 wins before the season.

We just dont know enough yet.

That's hogwash to assert that the loss was based on "the coaching staff sitting on their hands".

There was a great divide in talent and also a team playing a new system for the first time.

Go buy a clue.
