$9 Premio Sausage is just unconscionable

I don't mind the high price as long as the University makes the money. If the school sold the vending rights and the outsourced company is taking advantage then I have an issue.

At my last job in the cafeteria I heard that the contract was set up where max price points were established on various products (eggs in the am, burgers, sandwiches, etc...). this prevented the vendor from raising prices too high, especially on inclement weather days.

Dining Services did a far better job and while some items were limited the food was less expensive and better. All that needed to be done was better oversight by those in charge and by that I mean the VP who was in charge (no longer there) and TP sitting down with Dining Services and effectively coming up with something better and workable.

Unfortunately it became and is a money grab. The pricing of several items and the overall quality is poor. To charge what they do for a 20 cent bottle of water is robbery. There are items that reflect on average a 500 plus percent mark up and more. When people begin to respond like they have done to high gas prices then perhaps things may get corrected. It just seems odd that a Rutgers which has one of the best dining service operations in the country with quality food can't bring this to athletic events. At least the food trucks outside the stadium are there and offer quality familiar to all and at reasonable game event pricing. Lets face it someone sold out to Sodesco...whether it be at the top administrative level or within Rutgers Athletics for various unknown or financial reasons the net result is what we see here being expressed and its not too favorable.

Not to hijack this thread, but pretty much same reason for us (me and my wife). We have gone to the ketogenic diet. After the game, we ate at Woody's in Sea Bright, where they serve you a bowl of chips and salsa. I exercised great restraint in having a single chip. The benefits of a ketogenic diet on blood readings and cholesterol are numerous. And you will not find many items on the stadiums concessions menu that fit the diet, which is another reason to skip the food altogether.
Didn't you get enough food at your tailgate?
Uhm, no carbs. Then what do you drink at your tailgate? Just curious.

Remember, there is no need to buy any food inside the stadium. You can bring food and soda/juice/Gatorade/water inside as long as it is not in a glass bottle and has not been opened.
