Tired legs dude get over it it happensJust when it looked like the basketball program had stopped being a laughing stock.
Has anyone else even seen a run like that ? Or should I say drought like that ?
Another of the many memorable moments shared by the Scarlet faithful. Ouch.
Wow all the threads here on the game and you post this in another thread, but hey none of us noticed so thanks for creating a separate thread. If you are so embarrased go root for Dule or Kentucky you douche. No need for this given all the game related discussions already.
Yes it happened now move on. Look at it another way. Absent the 31-0 run we kicked their ass.
I assume that the fact that you waited to post this until 1:00 is due to the fact you that you probably dont even watch the games and read it on line..yeh?
So you focus on a crappy run and ignore any positives that occurred throughout the season? I have been on these boards for awhile and I know the game. Some posters just love stirring the pot then they play Joan of Arc when people disagree with them and dispute their nonsense with facts.Wow . Going after kbee when posted facts . It's not like he made it up.
As I was watching it I was wondering if Ash showed up in DC was coaching defense and mehriger offense. But it didn't get to 78-0

I can post skewed facts as well when not taking into account the big picture. After that run we beat Northwestern by 7 pts. So we played a horrible 11 mins. of basketball, but a great 29 mins. of basketball. You can pick and choose the facts to frame the picture you would like to convey. The OP chose to frame that picture in a negative light(like nj.com does) which in turn calls out his fan hood.Wow . Going after kbee when posted facts . It's not like he made it up.
Plum street is the boards worst poster. He is s bitter BALD old man. Very pathetic.
Getting to the 10th spot should be a goal because it means a bye on Wednesday. It probably would require at least 7 league wins but would along with a winning record be clear signs of program improvement. The other issue will be the difficulty of the out of conference schedule for next year.Playing tougher teams could result in more losses making the achievement of a winning record more difficult.Exciting but challenging times for mens basketball. There are two ways of looking at things.....whether the 31-0 run happened last night or if RU somehow won, some sort of 18-20 point loss was coming the next night.
If RU mailed in the last game after getting destroyed in the 2nd half by Maryland last Tuesday night, we would have looked like Nebraska did last Sunday night at home vs Michigan.....disinterested, already locked into playing Penn State on Wednesday and down by 30+ points with under 8 minutes left in the game, with about 15K fans in attendance.
What RU didn't do after getting mauled by Maryland was mail in a game against a surging Illinois game.....sure, the Illini didn't play smart or didn't play their best game, but RU had to be focused to win that game and pulled out a win in their home finale......
Then we had a pretty talented and underachieving Ohio State team up by 15-5 in the first half over RU and RU rallied to close the half only down 3 or 5 points....They kept scrapping and won that game, for the first time, winning back to back B1G games.
These are small steps in the equation, but if you drop the Illinois game, you end the regular season at 13-18.....and my guess is you are on a 7 or 8 game losing streak and probably drop the OSU game to finish 13-19....
If you dropped 9 straight games to end your season, that would be my biggest concern heading into recruiting/offseason workouts and the overall perception of where the fan base is....
On the other hand, RU won their home finale (which for fans that pay and attend games), is the likely last thought of what RU's basketball season was like. On top of that, you steal the Illinois game and beat Ohio State and get to 15 total wins.....People can point to the OOC slate being weak, but in year one of a program, it was the right decision.
The 31-0 run was ugly, but there are very rare instances where a team plays back to back games and goes up in talent and ability and are immediate able to match that the next night.....You can scan the scores of the games yesterday of teams that played on Wednesday and in almost all instances, the team that played Wednesday, didn't play well or close to their level on Thursday.
Finishing 15-18 with 2 B1G wins in their last 3 games, overrides the 31-0 run to me.....doesn't excuse it, or make it go away, but it's not the first thing I think of over the last weeks events....in the big picture, winning the Illinois and Ohio State games were huge boosts for the program, vs finishing up or mailing in the final 2-3 games and finishing 13-19.
It is a much more feasible goal to get over .500 the next year, if your record is 15-18 in Year one, vs 13-19 in year one....You are 6 games under .500 or 3 games under 500....
There are coaches that get hired at rebuilding programs and people that look back at things three years from now, are going to only look at 15-18, 17-15 and whatever Year 3's record might be to measure progress.....I can tell you that 13-19 in Year One looks much worse on paper and 2-16 or 2-17 in league games is much worse than 4-16 vs B1G competition.
If you told me I would be 6-12 or 7-11 in the B1G next year and RU adds another B1G win or two on Days One and Day Two in the B1G tournament next year, and I'd have to get buried by 18-20 in the quarterfinals vs a Top 3 seed next year, I'd sign up for that today as well.
We have a long way to go, but I'm not under an illusion that RU is finishing in the Top 4-5 of the B1G anytime soon.....but we have to make these steps first as part of the process.....RU is ahead of schedule by most estimations and I'm happy that we are moving in the right direction and improving.

I've never seen a 31-0 run in college mbb, or the NBA or high school.
But it doesn't take away from a positive season and a program that is headed in the right direction.
how many times does a college team play back to back? NBA teams play poorly on back to back sometimes.
I agree with all of that. There ARE clear signs of progress and I DO think we have a coach who can get things turned around here.
Last night's debacle was just one more kick in the crotch for long-suffering Rutgers fans. And some of my pals who love to tease me about Rutgers are still calling today about the 31-0 run.
Now let's see if our current staff can recruit.
About 10 years ago, we went on a 30 - 0 run to take a 32 - 3 lead over Virginia Tech to start a game. So yes, we have seen a run like that. It happens...
Ahole comment coming from an alleged RU fan.
Actually, I've probably been a Rutgers fan for longer than you've been alive.
I saw Lloyd and Valvano in Rutgers uniforms. And Jack Penhall.
I just prefer being honest about my team instead of giddy over every baby step.
And last night sucked.
Yep. Penn State (young team) got destroyed yesterday after winning a game the day before, St. John's (young team) was throttled after winning a game the day before, and we (young team) were beaten after winning a game the day before. It is common for lower-ranked teams to lose the second day because they are not only tired, they are playing higher-ranked teams. bac is using one example of a fluke game in which TCU beat Kansas as his guiding force in his emotional and anti-intellectual diatribes against our team. We won 15 games this year and were in all but IIRC 3 (Iowa, Indy, Maryland), and that is tremendous improvement. We got beat by a better and better-rested, NCAA-bound team. Simple.how many times does a college team play back to back? NBA teams play poorly on back to back sometimes.
One thing I noticed about Sanders is he let's his emotions get the best of him and dictate his game. He's never even keeled. If things aren't going well on the way to the bench he mopes and sulks, then he starts to push things. If things go well he doesn't keep it in check and begins to play out of control. If he can get his emotions in check because the talent's there, he could become a steadying force and a true leader. Something we sorely lacked this year. For the team to succeed next year, Sanders drastically needs to improve his offense and decision making. He is on the floor over Johnson for more time simply because he can take people off the dribble more. I would think Johnson should have more time over Sanders because he can shoot.
Nonetheless, Sanders is not a reliable offensive option right now. He is a great kid with a lot of work to do. Can he get there?I think he can. Up to Sanders.
On top of that, Thiam just needs to gain his weight. Forget the big fun monetarily, anyone open to donating a couple lbs?Theyll be taking donations at the RAC tomorrow.
Sa has to quit shooting, and work on hard box outs, and where the ball is coming off the rim based on the shot.
Hopefully Doorsons foot surgery goes well, and some kind of transfer is brought in for a center spot.
Future looks bright. I trust development will be there.

He is a fantastic kid, but definitely has to improve a good amount of his game. He cannot be judged for last year, as those stats were very flawed.
I thought Freeman(3man) did a great job leading, Gettys, and Williams leading by example on how to scrap.
Sanders hopefully learns when to slow, and when to go. It will be critical to his game. Also, just gaining trust in his team mates. They have to trust him as well to take the right shots, and make sure to pass to the open man.
Great points.
I loved the heart and effort of our 2 captains.
Freeman and Williams.
Coach definitely made the right picks there.
