a 31-0 run ????

Yep. Penn State (young team) got destroyed yesterday after winning a game the day before, St. John's (young team) was throttled after winning a game the day before, and we (young team) were beaten after winning a game the day before. It is common for lower-ranked teams to lose the second day because they are not only tired, they are playing higher-ranked teams. bac is using one example of a fluke game in which TCU beat Kansas as his guiding force in his emotional and anti-intellectual diatribes against our team. We won 15 games this year and were in all but IIRC 3 (Iowa, Indy, Maryland), and that is tremendous improvement. We got beat by a better and better-rested, NCAA-bound team. Simple.
Wasn't Kansas without one of their star players?

I was actually impressed with how we responded to the run.

Now I wish we responded better to the 9-0 run. We allowed 22 more points

All in all if Corey's 3 falls we cut it to 14 with like 13 minutes left

I agree with you. At one point we cut it to 15. Happy to see the team just didn't pack it in and kept fighting. Bounces never went our way during the entire game either. Northwestern player would dribble off his foot and ball would bounce to another player under the basket for a layup. Glad to see Coach got the walkons a little play time at the end.

well schools are playing back to back every night in conference tournaments....TCU played back to back and knocked off #1 Kansas...tired legs is just an excuse, there is no excuse for 31-0 other than being taken to the woodshed, it is what it is
I called it the day before. NW moved the ball real well tired legs verse fresh legs is tougher than you think. Ive never seen 3 successive illegal screens I'm going to say 1 or more of those were BS calls

I hope so. Thanks for bringing it up.
are you really going to cling to this as an argument...#1 team in the country had a player out? Here is another.....Davidson played first day A10 took down A10 champDayton on day 2 who was rested. Michigan after a plane crash and win over Illinois in first round took down rested Big 10 champ Purdue in OT no less. Kansas State after beating TT took down 2nd seeded rested Baylor on Day 2. Vanderbilt after beating Texas A&M took down rested 2nd seed Florida on day 2. California after beating Oregon St. took down rested Utah on day 2. Xavier after beating De Paul took down 2nd seed and rested Butler on day 2.

No one was asking RU to win the game. These tournaments always have back to back games, I can see tired legs being the excuse on day 3 or when schools are forced into overtime but you guys trotted the tired legs excuse out for a 31-0 run starting 5 minutes into the game to 5 minutes left. I am just busting balls here because I just think its not something you need to excuse. RU got beat and taken to the woodshed by a better team period. They brought their A plus game and when that happens RU cannot compete, don't have to twist yourselves into pretzels to try to defend a 31-0

and if it was tired legs then RU would have lost by 40 plus...lets give credit to Northwestern...it had everything to do with them

NW just went on a 20-2 run vs Twerps. Twerps went 13.5 minutes without scoring from the field.

Northwestern beats up Maryland!! We really had a nice year! NW, Michigan and Purdue are good.

I said during pregame warmups yesterday from the arena that NW looked like they couldn't miss ... I always watch warmups for both teams and I don't know if I've ever seen more swishes than I saw NW hit yesterday. Man do they have shooters. Again today. Getting hot at the right time = how you win tournaments. Maybe now a not-so-sleeper pick to do something big.

Are you gonna cling to your position that I'm saying that a 31-0 run is fine? Stop throwing a strawman out there so you can knock it down. Yes, we were tired, mentally and physically, because to win any game with our talent we have to give it everything we have in the first game, and that makes it next to impossible to win another game the next day. If you don't have the talent, and don't have the upperclassmen, and don't have outside shooters, you're not gonna win a game against a better team who didn't play the day before. The tourney structure makes it next-to-impossible for #11-14 seeds to win notably because they are lower ranked, it requires them to play and extra game (or two, in some cases, because some teams get double-byes). It makes a difference.

its not impossible because I believe that Penn State advanced either last year or two years and I gave you examples of other conferences where the first day team won the next day. I just gave you a bunch of examples that you just ignored. RU isnt special, everyone has to fight hard to win games when they are talented. I just didnt like the tired excuse being trotted out immediately when something went wrong.

It wasnt so much tired as the better team just housed RU

I give credit to the coach for settling the team down after that run..in the past, RU might have folded and lost the game by 40 or more..Plus Northwestern is a hot team right now, knocking of Maryland the next night on their (kind of) home floor!

Actually, I've probably been a Rutgers fan for longer than you've been alive.
I saw Lloyd and Valvano in Rutgers uniforms. And Jack Penhall.
I just prefer being honest about my team instead of giddy over every baby step.
And last night sucked.

Yeah...right.

Not taking anything away from NW. They moved the ball around quickly had shot many uncontested shots. They didn't miss many but it's very easy to see tired legs. RU is never out worked on the boards and they were out worked by a large margin. Taking a lot if pull up jumpers as well you pull up because your tired and can't drive hard to hoop. We would have had to play a perfect game to beat NW and it didn't happen. They played hard but just did not have it. It happens
