All,

This year RU is celebrating its 250th year of existence. Tomorrow, December 1st, Rutgers is launching a one day fundraising event "RU Giving Day" to celebrate this milestone and raise money towards the place that we all believe so much in on these boards.

I know we all already have contributed our hard earned dollars to the school through tuition, donations, season tickets, etc. We are among the most loyal supporters in the RU community already.

Tomorrow on December 1st lets make a statement in numbers and chip in towards the cause!

Many people have called for action by the administration to clean house and take on grand plans to improve our school & athletics dept. But the reality, as pointed out in numerous research publications is that we are dead last in our conference and poorly ranked nationally in alumni giving (both % of alumni and $ amounts of endowments). This falls on us, collectively, to both contribute ourselves and rally others around us to do what they can. Every dollar counts more because simply by giving anything, you increase the % of alumni giving (which is used as an input in many publications ranking of Universities).

This one of the few ways we can take action to directly improve RU. Let's rally up and do what we can to improve these numbers and take some accountability ourselves.

bump .. The day is today! It is VERY easy to do the donation via the website.

You can give to any area of the school (academics, social, athletics, scholarship, etc.), including things like the RU B1G Build Fund .. which goes towards large capital projects. Or perhaps you might be more interested in giving towards an athletic fund that goes towards coaching.

I just donated to the RU B1G Fund. and for good measure I bought a brick too because that Scarlet Walk is horribly devoid of donated bricks. That makes 3 for Mr.Screw and I.

Here's a chance for all the GoFundMe and social media acolytes to put some bucks behind their bluster. I put mine in.

I would hope that everyone who gave towards the GoFundMe .. and was refunded puts in that same money or more towards this cause directly to RU athletics. Your voices were heard, now put that money back in and maybe even double down.

I split my donation between my academic program and the B1G Build Fund. Could only throw in $500 at this time (holidays are a tough time to find disposable dollars). Hope they do another one in May.

Up to $71,909 now.

How much do you think is realistic to raise today? What would be considered a good amount?

I was one of the GoFundMe pledges. The school held up their part of the bargain by moving to replace the coaching & Athletic Director staff, so I did my part by donating double the amount previously pledged.

Donated to wrestling--we're now top 10. Might have to drop some additional coin on women's soccer, too, since they are kicking ass (literally and figuratively).

Up to $315,825 with 1,561 pledges by 1pm.

I think it would be great if we hit $1m. The way its going so far realistically $800k would be an achievement.

We need to get the number of pledges WAY UP. If people even donate $1m it helps that number increase which helps out a lot towards national rankings of our school

Just made my donation. I like how they keep a running tally for each school and fund.

Hopefully we'll see a big bump from 6-8pm as people get out of work.

Saw something on twitter that said they reached their "donor number" goals, the donor dollar about was $500,000. That seems low. But I expect more from our alum. What am I thinking?

I make my donation but I felt bad when I saw there were no donations to the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research so I donated a little something get them on the board.

Thanks for mentioning the bricks. Don't understand why we haven't sold more. I have four already, but what the heck, you can never have too many bricks I guess. And just donated to one of the RU B1G funds as well. The Build fund?

We broke $1M. At $1,056,000 right now. They didn't ask me about employer matching donations when I donated (unless I missed it). So whatever number we end up with, there should be an additional windfall that comes later on top of that once those are processed. Awesome results so far!
