Additional Perspective

Bingo, bingo, bingo. Barring any crazy developments, EJ has a chance - a chance - to be the coach next year. If Sanders or Laurent transfer (he could withstand Foreman or Williams), then I think it is over. A lot of good points are made here, and this decision is yet another reason why Pat Hobbs gets the big bucks. By the way, Bac, I ran into our old friend Julie Herman last week. We did not speak for long, but she seemed well, and in good spirits.

did you see her at Subway or at the Kendall Park Shop Rite...that's great shes doing well

There are no signs of any contributors transferring at this time. The few public statements that have been made by players indicate long term commitment. We shall see. The past losses of Rosario, Carter, Jones, etc still haunt some you older guys.

This is the only place transfer talk is occurring. No other school (and I've been involved at multiple athektic programs) openly discuss the possibility of the best players transferring. Just something ive noticed. Instead they rally around them.

The only thing this program hasn't tried in he last 10 years is continuity. I for one believe that will change with this coach (thanks to the AD).

players transfer every year, I bet you didn't think Etou was transferring after we beat Wisky last year, did you think the two Johnsons were leaving too...did you think Kwe Parker was going to reneg? Roster turnover happens even at the best schools, it happens more often at the worst schools

We need open scholarships. Don't want to see Mike, Corey, Freeman, or Jonathan leave.

If any of them leave, does Jordan resign/get fired?Hobbs knows it will take forever to rebound, and kids would leave because they don't see a future in Jordans coaching.

Jelly -- I expect Jordan to be back next year. Part financial, part a reward for loyalty. I doubt that Hobbs cares that much about the underwhelming class of 2016. He'll let Jordan recruit the '17 kids off the Sanders highlight reel.

You bring up one very valid point -- it appears that Jordan hasn't "lost" the team this year. I believe that happened towards the end of both Year 1 and 2. Bad losses or good losses, this year's band of 7 have hung together. The staff gets the blame for the mess that was Rutgers men's basketball for the first 10-12 games, but it needs to get the credit for getting the kids to hang tight over the last couple months since the injuries hit. Hooefully, they all get rewarded with a road win at Nebraska.

That's assuming one of two things. One, that we get one or more transfers from the existing roster or the incoming 2016 class. Or two, that Freeman doesn't get a medical redshirt year.

Assuming Freeman gets a medical redshirt this year, which he should... we'll have zero available '17 scholarships to offer off of Sanders' highlight reel.

Just speculation... but say Goode transfers after either this year or next (realizing his playing time will be limited), and one of the incoming freshmen doesn't pan out in the first year and transfers... that frees up two roster spots for the '17 class. I think Jordan really needs to work to free up two scholarships for '17.

There will be '17 slots. If Goode doesn't transfer, then Jordan is even a worse program manager than his 3-year record suggests. The kid was an EE and one season is enough to see that the kid just isn't close to being a B1G player, athletic or mental.

Freeman hurt his knee (miniscus) in high school and only played 7 games this season. If he makes it through next season healthy, I think he'll go and play pro overseas. I think he'll be 23 at the end of the '17 season. Time to make some money.

Given the track record, it's not automatic that a kid from the Canaries will get through the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Hey, I think I remember Eddie Jordan. Didn't he play on the great 1976 team? What's he doing these days?

Not one 2017 recruit at the RAC this year, except Andre Rafus who has Kentucky, Syracuse, UNLV offers/interest. So waste of time.

Seton Hall has about 15-18 recruits at tonight's game.

Kids want to win. They want facilities. They want to be pushed in practice and during games.

I think Hobbs will need to make a decision on Jordan before any kids would likely announce that they intend to transfer regardless of his status.

Its not a question of not liking Jordan. As bac points out, the numbers are damning. And the excuses are hollow. Lets remember, Doorson and Diallo are projects. Both will not be B1G caliber centers next year.
Very true. We lost two not-good players who might someday be decent, and one good player. That should not create a historic losing streak full of regular blowouts. But it did here only because the team at full strength wasn't far from doing that anyway.

Like I said, if Eddie stays, he can thank the injuries.
