Any Veteran OCs out there?

Pick up a successful OC at an American, mid american, C-USA or mountain west school... and double their salary. Plenty of good ones.

It's actually an ideal situation for many up and coming offensive minds, because Ash has repeatedly said he's pretty hands off.

Demote Mehringer and let him learn and grow into the position. Especially since paying him one way or another.

The entire coaching staff needs to be evaluated at the end of the season by Ash.Replacements will cost more money.

If you think a veteran coaching staff could do anything with this offensive unit, please come back to earth

I had mentioned Eddie Gran last year. He was the Cincy OC, he ended up going to Kentucky and they've struggled some on offense from what I've read. So it happens. I'd be surprised if any change is made with regard to Mehringer after year 1.

I'm positive an experienced OC would do better with this unit. We'd still lose most if not all the games we lost, but play would be better.

Guys... he was 27 years old when he was hired. His only OC experience was as a co-OC at JMU for only 1 year. He wasn't even a solo OC. On the FBS level, his highest experience is WR coach. Time to open up our eyes and realize this was a horrible staff decision by Ash - especially when your head coach is not an offensive guy.

I said it when he was hired that I was skeptical although many were quite excited especially on the recruiting front. I wouldn't have had any issue if it was like Jake Spavital when he was at Texas A&M or Lashlee at Auburn who had offensive minded HCs above them in Sumlin and Malzahn. Ash obviously is a defensive coach so the youthful hire gave me pause. That being said I'm still willing to give him a fair shot waiting to see what he can do when his recruiting kicks in. Even if I didn't have that patience though, I don't think a change would be made by Ash anyway. I'd be surprised if he does.

THIS. Ash needs to eat some humble pie and hire a vet as OC, who can help him run this team and innovate. You can't have a first time HC and a staff full of kids. Not with this fragile and weak program.

Also Ash needs to take the play calling responsibilities on defense next year. Im beginning to seriously think we basically threw this staff together at the last minute.
