Ash hires Vince Okruch as special teams coach

What's a "Quality Control Coach"?
They off field assistants the review film and assist the coaches in preparations. Usually they a considered below an on field graduate assistant. They are the lowest level "coach" on the staff.

Is Barbier wearing 'skinny jeans' ? lol. Nice digs , though !
Not jeans. Kinda like sweatpants but more of a shiny material. They are kinda like reverse bell bottoms.... they taper down to skinny at the ankles. Kinda like Z. Cavaricci pants

This kid has some leg on him, we really need him to sign his letter.

So I think his fashion sense and house and Christmas decorating skills are world class.

Leg moves through the ball faster. Less aerodynamic drag on the leg.

This is a very solid 1st hire. Anyone not impressed should look back at Fudd's hires and where most had experience.

Can't pass judgement on Okruch (although OSU on the resume never hurts), but one thing that has NOT been broken over the last few years is STs. If you doubt it compare the number of Punt, FG and EP blocks RU has gotten in the last few years with the rest of the Power 5. I hope that legacy of quality is continued.

Yeah, but the other side of ST has been very pedestrian. I'm referring to KO, punting, FG kicking. That needs to improve. How many times has an opponent's team negated JG's ability to return a KO by drilling it into the back of the endzone? And how many times are we able to do that to an opponent? When we're faced with a good KO returner, we end up kicking ridiculously short so they start on the 35.

I like Ezekiel bread. It's better toasted, imo.

And settle down on the faux outrage about the kid's Christmas lights and brick work. It's all in good fun. Athletes break each other's balls--even kickers. Hell, especially kickers. He's used to it. The fact that people here are butt hurt speaks to the collective athletic experience that resides here.

I'd say that's more a recruiting issue than a ST coaching issue. I'm not sure how you can coach someone into putting a KO out of the end zone.

Yeah, sure, it's recruiting, but I'd argue it's also strength and conditioning.

What this hire says to me is that the new coach has a grasp of the attention to detail that matters.
Special teams can really flip the field, but it is a small part of the actual game planning. By reaching out to this new coach (with a rather nice resume), I feel that the next hires will be equally impressive.

The chance to become a good program is here, now, and it won't happen overnight, but I am truly encouraged that Coach Ash is going to build a foundation here. The tricky part will be getting the Administration to keep up with the commitment level needed to keep getting better.

Damn - I know that fashion reference. Bummer, I'm getting old. :weary:

Agreed. Our special teams were pretty respectable. If we can up the game, all the more better.

I'm pretty sure that my familiarity with our ability to block kicks is up there with everyone else's lol....

..HOWEVER, RUSK97 is SPOT-ON here!

Damn, I must be getting old.
You're not the only one. I wasn't into all the latest styles etc..when I was younger just wore "normal" clothes but when the other poster brought up Z. Cavaricci that was a like a time warp for me. I completely forgot about those things, well what reason would I have to remember it anyway, lol. Skidz pants was the other thing. Both were popular in my middle school days. Where does the time go.
