Anyone pick up on the comment from Ash regarding the crowd for Iowa? It could be nothing but he said something along the line of - Big Ten opener, Big Ten football in New Jersey. If you are a fan of Rutgers or NOT hopefully you will come out for some Big Ten football. I found it a bit sad that this game isn't a sell out. He is trying to get people in the seats regardless if they at Rutgers fans or not.

He's god damn right......we SHOULD sell this game out. Would we rather have SadExcuse or Iowa here? Show up and bring friends.....

Agree...there is a surprising lack of energy around this program right now. I don't know if it is driven by the fact that many know this is a transition year and likely to be challenging, but the reality is that our fan base isn't that deep. We have many very good, loyal, and passionate fans, but this program isn't as ingrained in the university and community like Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio State, and some others.

I think the casual fans are still not sold on the program. Ash produces a signature win this week (unlikely) and I think the bandwagon starts moving again.
The bandwagon will never be as big as some think it should be.

It is what it is.

Why is this still a such a surprise and how many times does this need to be gone over? Provide us with a good team (not even great, just good) and the fans will start to come back. We've sold out the stadium when that happens. We just don't have enough fan goodwill built up - not enough good times for all of the bad.

Attendance is a lagging indicator and there we are now bearing the fruits of the Flood regime.

Maybe they should do more than use social media to pack the house. . . .

Casual fan base needs to increase. Our home field advantage hasn't been one yet this season.

I did see a TV commercial in MNF last night with Ash urging people to buy season tickets and to Pack the Point. We need to win some games. Get the momentum going for this team.

No reason to not have at least the atmosphere we had against Arkansas in '13. I don't care that it's a nooner, compared to a 3:30 start. First conference game of the year at home and people need to be there.

We need a play making qb that excites the crowd with his play and gives the team a chance to win.

THIS ^^^^^^

We hear every year about how the recruits are amazing and the work ethic is top notch and the schemes are great, the food is better.... and then our starting QB comes out and can't be average let alone above average.

Is that the fans fault? Is that the offensive lines fault?

At least now we have heard some admitting that we as fans deserve to have our QBs play to a high level. At least Ash has put somebody else in though I would like to have seen more of it.

Based on our history if the QBs have not separated themselves in practice and we have been told that its been close for several years, then let them separate themselves in the games. Give everybody some time and let the cream rise to the top. Practice cream is obviously not getting it done and now you've invested all those reps.

Those flashes of Gio and Tylin gave the fans some hope. It doesn't take a marketing genius to know that giving the fans some hope is a good thing. That is really all we ask. We don't expect to win the Big 10 East but give us something to look forward to.

Best College football game I have ever been to...in fact, best sporting event I have ever been to was Rutgers/Louisville 2006. The atmosphere was electric, the house was packed to standing room only, It was LOUD, and there were drunk coeds everywhere. The most beautiful bonding experience I ever had with my fellow Rutgers fans! Sigh. Wish we could get a game like that soon.

Don't know what the ticket prices are for Iowa game but the dynamic pricing options for some of these games has probably scared away a lot of non diehards.

If anything, this game should absolutely be sold out, but of course, it isn't. Tailgaters will straggle in late, the students that actually show up will leave early, blah, blah, blah. Same nonsense every week.

Just speaking about the size of the crowd...you do almost every game now.

2 years of being blown out by any team with a pulse + multiple arrests + HC writing papers for idiot + 4-8 season = poor attendance this year.

If you know anyone involved in Boys and Girls Scouts, unions, and those who are parents and family members of Rutgers students, they get discount tickets for the Iowa game. call Rutgers at 866-445-4678 Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00.

What bothers me most is the bitching to this board. We are the hardcore fans - bitching about it here over and over and over and over and over and over and over again just gets old after a while.

Until we are sold out with season tickets, and our embarrassingly large student section is reduced, we should continue to solicit attendance from non-Rutgers fans, who are by definition possible future Rutgers fans.

Winning >>> Entertaining QB play.

Razzle dazzle air raid offense but still losing not gonna get it done. Win consistently and this will become a non problem.

got my 3 season tickets + 1-2 more buddies coming. I think until we have an exciting product we will not sell out. Qb play and a secondary made of swiss cheese the past 2 years does not help

And the unsold seats not on the resale market will remain so because they are overpriced based on demand.
Very true. When the season started, I thought there would be 50,000+ in the stands for the Iowa game. However, due to the noon kickoff combined with RU's ho-hum play in its first three games, I seriously doubt there will be more than 43K in the stands. (I'm guessing the "announced/tickets distributed" figure will be 48,286.)

$15 on stubhub. Howard was $6.

That's NYC area. If you lose you're a snooze. Been a loooong time since RU ball was exciting and there's too many other things to do on fall weekends. Ash will get it back eventually because the star players like the RU coaches.

Ehh, it's everywhere. In Phoenix, you can pick up tickets to see the Diamondbacks for 5 bucks for almost any game.

Win and the sellouts will come. We are 2-1. There has only been three games or 1/4 of the season gone. Iowa, a top 20 team (although out right now) are coming. this isn't Tulane. or South Florida. this is IOWA! If you remotely like college football in the area this is a chance to see a blue blood program in your backyard. at the bare minimum. They were in the Rose Bowl last year. Undefeated in the B1G West last year.

If we paid the fans to show up, would that get them there at least? Sheesh.....
