Ash's comments on the crowd for this week

Coaches need to avoid this topic. It's all up to them to pack the house.
Somewhat disagree. It's up to the coaches to develop a solid winning program. As we all know, that will take time. Until that happens, it's up to the marketing department to sell the product that we have.

If anything, this game should absolutely be sold out, but of course, it isn't. Tailgaters will straggle in late, the students that actually show up will leave early, blah, blah, blah. Same nonsense every week.
Not even sure they're going to show up this week. In Rutgers infinite wisdom they gave the students the Alley, then like Lucy holding the football took it away. Shear Genius. Now that's the way to attract the students for the game. Brilliant!

Alan Lucy?

It is VERY difficult to be a casual fan.

Going to a game is a full day commitment, taking into account traffic and parking. If you have younger kids or seniors as part of your group, going to a game is a non-starter. Also, from my prospective, the volume of the sound system is exhausting. Add to all this the is expense once you are in the stadium is crazy.

Going to a Rutgers game is really not for the casual fan.

Yea but those stadiums fit 90,000.
For teams with an RU type of history? Nope. I mean Pitt has a history that blows ours away, can't fill stadium. MD? Can't fill stadium. Virginia, UNC? Same in off years. These are programs, most with a better history, that don't sell out all that often

Check out stubhub, hundreds of tickets way under face value. Check out the Rivals ticket /parking pass board here, folks can't give away anything. This crowd might be worse than for New Mexico.
And I haven't a clue why.

Hey coach you want fans to show up? then
stop saying Laviano is the best we have,
Don't forget how he acted last year, making
a fool of himself with the fans. Can't throw,
can't run, can't stop the fumbles, can't stop
the interceptions. Play the guy with the arm.
let him disprove himself. Oh. have a promotion
night, to get fans in, let me see, how about
free IDs for the teenage fans. Or Laviano haircuts.
Put Laviano in
charge, you say he is a leader. We have had
enough of defensive head coaches, that can't
run an offense. and get rid of that OC who
has very bad judgement, who admits he
grew very close to Laviano during the summer,
says he loved him as a person.

We need a play making qb that excites the crowd with his play and gives the team a chance to win.
Good qb play makes an average team look so much better. It could translate to more wins against better teams.
On the flip side.......doesn't need an explanation.

Mind boggling. Even if people are down on RU - we're playing Iowa. A legit name. It's pathetic if the only games we're going to get good crowds for are Michigan and State Penn.

Once the team stops sucking, then people can complain about the fans sucking. Otherwise, they have things arse backwards.

This is the deal with the devil that was signed when we kept useless Flood around for so long. Flood destroyed so much of the progress this program made, and you are now seeing that.

The team will get good in a year or two, the fans will come. But noon start times against Howard are not going to pack the stadium out. A noon game against Iowa will have better results. Noon start times, a bad team, and previously uninspiring opponents doesn't make for a surprising result.

considering EVERYTHING.. we actually have a very good fan base. Our core is as strong as any in the country and the northeast is littered with bandwagon fans - so they are around for the taking.

Students do a very nice job too despite what some posters say. Go travel for a game once in a while, you'll be surprised how well our student section, tailgate scene and overall game day compare.

Too many people on here make comments without any frame of reference.

The Noon start time is the biggest factor.

3:30 vs Iowa would bump the actual attendance by 10k
Yep. Noon kickoffs in this area during this time of year are the deal breaker for many. A lot of people I know simply can't or won't attend a game with that start time.

A 3:30 start would boost attendance, but not by 10K. I'd say at least 5K, though.

This will take time. Schiano found us and we found his team. Flood lost us. Can we be found again? This ain't Ohio sir.

While Iowa is a name except for last year
