Austin Williams announcenent

Richie said it on podcast I think
Wednesday was reported on the podcast, this latest update about the delay was on premium. The podcasts are great though. You get a ton of information that may as well be on premium.

So just to be clear, premium members should feel free to post premium content on the free board if they feel the content really shouldn't be premium or if the content will become public knowledge in the next 24 hours. Thanks, I was not aware of those exceptions for posting premium content on the free boards.

If referring to me, I was voicing an opinion, thus the IMO

That said, I would not purposely post premium info and have not done so

Just that college choice announcement dates are usually common knowledge and nothing worth keeping from anyone
We see players announcing dates and postponing announcements regularly

So you felt the need to post premium info here?

Just my opinion, but it seemed like it was just a matter of consideration for those of us who would be looking for an announcement today... And I for one appreciated it. People shouldn't be screwed over or viewed as second class citizens just because they don't have Premium.

With that being said, OF COURSE most stuff on Premium shouldn't be repeated here, but to simply provide a correction to previous information that was posted here, that would have had some non-premium posters wasting their time looking for an announcement that didn't exist, seems warranted and was appreciated. And he did give the credit to Richie and the Premium site.. (I've been thinking about joining Premium lately but haven't done it yet.)

So again to summarize, premium members can decide what pieces of premium content they can share on the free boards.

I guess we know who the sergeant at arms is here. But not everything is so cut and dried in life though... Why automatically take issue with every person who breaks a rule, IF he or she might feel it's the right/moral thing to do at the time? And this was a very minor rule, considering the content of the post...

But I guess after we'd checked the board several times today to check on info on the announcement, we should all have just paid for a premium account just in case there might be additional information there... Okay. At least you wouldn't have had to pay to see a single sentence that some of us ended up getting to seeing for free. 😉

I also realize that by defending the aforementioned Premium leak that I'm not exactly ingratiating myself to the guys who run the boards, who I do feel do a tremendous job, but it is what it is.

The mods should make it known if they consider announcement dates and cancellations of announcements as premium
As an opinion, I don’t think so, but would not argue it with them if they felt differently

The OP tagged Richie. Why not just wait for Richie to respond? Why post the info when as far as you know it only exists on premium? Feel free to ignore Richie’s request to keep premium info on the premium board.

Always thought what was supposedly premium info, no matter how slight, couldn't be share of the free board.
Remember incidents in the past where a mod would tell someone who posted premium info here that posting that info was against the rules .
I always thought the info that wasn't public knowledge posted in a Rival's premium board couldn't be shared and the only way to share it would be finding that info posted somewhere else , then it could be shard on this board..

Wht I always felt as a free board user is:Like it or not, knowing first is one of the benefits of having premium membership and if knowledge gained there is put on the free board without an OK, it takes away from having premium membership so you know before free board members .
Seems that is getting a little lax and some info can be shared because it soon will be public knowledge anyway

I feel like the admins and posters are irked when this info is shared no matter how slight because it devalues the premium service that the posters pay for and the admins need for revenue. In any case, I think it's best to not share it and let the admins make the determination. Not that it's a big deal, but I admit I was surprised when I saw poster just straight up say the info was shared on premium.

As a Free Board only, keep the rumor mongering, speculation and "insider reports" to the Premium Board.

There's only so many "Big transfer news is about to happen!!! Sound the alarm!!" threads that never actually amount to anything a person can scroll past.

Clutter up the Premium Board with that non-sense.

Just to play Devils Advocste, what does finishing summer classrs have to do with making a commitment announcement to Rutgers?
It's not binding. It literally means nothing.
If he was going to make an announcement then just make it.

I'm not saying it means anything that he is delaying and hes not coming herebut the reasoning for delaying an announcement seems dumb (to me).
But after the Davis announcement/no announcement, this off season has been filled with weird justifications for abnormal behavior.

It's about perception and being able to keep options open.

Let's say the staff takes his commitment and their other portal guard targets begin to look elsewhere. Then Williams doesn't pass his class and can't qualify to make it to Rutgers.

1) It looks bad on a perception scale that Rutgers took a commitment from a guy who couldn't even get on campus
2) Rutgers can't effectively recruit other options while he's committed because Rutgers is full and by the time they find out about his grade it's too late to start recruiting new portal targets in time to have them visit, enroll and join the team on the Senegal/Portugal trip.

Making Williams wait to announce until he passes his class gives the program the most optionality and also cover's the program's ass in case he doesn't pass.

This seems to be just a precautionary thing though, the expectation is he'll be fine, but they're playing this one safe

All valid and good points.
My only response would be that it appears to be Williams decision to postpone - not the staff.
That was my reading of TKR podcast.
Maybe the staff has actially the told him to wait and he's just saying it's "his" decision to wait for face saving purposes.

No inside info but when things like this happen it’s because the kid is looking for a better opportunity and likely ends up elsewhere

If you want to believe that, then the kid or news would be on Twitter and other places about other schools recruiting him. If you can find that, post it to support your theory......if not, then common sense would tell you, the thought you pulled out of the sky, would be 100% wrong.

I don’t understand all the portal rules myself but if your a graduate transfer the sit out rules don’t apply, right? It seems like he’s just waiting until he’s officially a graduate and therefore eligible right away to make his announcement.

This is a Seinfeld thread. About nothing.
Nah that’d be the string about the big surprise portal news…

We’re seemingly waiting on an announcement. The team leaves for the trip abroad soon so everything will likely settle. Anyone coming in won’t want to miss that.

I congratulate you on not writing a 12 paragraph response. Haha

You're right. That's the thread I thought I was responding to :-( Lost and confused in the misinformation and non-information.

Ha. I do still want an answer on whether the trip abroad marks an official end date to any possibility of losing any more grad transfers to the portal. Hoping someone can weigh in before that string is closed off.

Relates to Austin Williams too - if he’s coming to Rutgers, he’s going to go on that trip which means he needs to make an official announcement very soon.

I don't know BUT I would think the trip abroad is irrelevant - it's only allowed once every 4 years - so it wouldn't be the same for every school.

Being officially enrolled (signed up for classes) in the school seems like the important thing - after enrolling, if you want to go somewhere else, it's a transfer

Trying to apply logic - but it's the NCAA - so who knows?
